aspect ratio suddenly changed

i started an encoding (yes, 4:3) and went to bed and when i woke up my avi was playing 1:1. when i open it with windows media player and go under file -> properties it tells me it's 352x352. i opened some stuff that i had encoded days ago... now they are playing 1:1 too. under windows explorer, right clicking and going to properties tells me 480x352, which is right. anybody seen this before?

What did you use to do the encoding? If you used DVD2AVI then you can change the aspect ratio under the Video setting. I believe the option under that is Clipping. But that lets you choose which ratio you want.
