Newbie Q: Where are codecs listed in XP?

I just got a computer w/ Windows XP and can't find where the codecs are listed. In Window 98 there was a multimedia icon in the control panel, but I can't seem to find it's equivalent in XP. Please instruct me on how I can find them.

    thanks!

I have no XP machine handy here, but I'm pretty sure (from memory) that it is just the same with Win2K.

Here we go: Control Panel -> Sounds & Multimedia. In the new dialog box, go to the Hardware tab and double-click on Video codecs. You can see the list of installed codecs under the property. Alternatively, go to Device Manager and look under the Audio, video and game controllers.

Thanks, Enchanter. Found it under the Device Manager and audio, video, and game controllers.
