True, but if a sizeable amount of signatures gets placed on the petition, say a few million. The RIAA will realise that a good amount of potential buyers are not happy, and may address the situation. Though, as you say, probably not!

The RIAA do know the numbers are in the millions.
They play stupid that they know what business model we want.
This way they can continue to whine to the law makers to change laws in thier favor.
Only solution is to stop funding them all together, and that isn't gonna happen. Too many ignorant people out there.

Thats why in a way I hope that the recording industry manages to make some of thier stupid ideas reality to proove to the ignorant people that thier business model is unacceptable, and thus WE should resort to endorsing other entertainment avenues.

Petitions only work if they are passed as LAW.
Maybe we consumers should be lobbying our concerns.
