    Back up Copies!

If it's so legal to make yourself a back up copy of a DVD that you own how is it legal for the companies like Sony to put such harsh encryption on them?!

So you will buy another copy for $24.99 when you son decides to clean the floor with the original DVD and therefore ruin it.

They are entitled to encrypt their copyrighted material. They must not encrpyt it so that the product that you purchase is unplayable.

Also, don't confuse your legal right to backup a DVD you bought from Sony with their legal obligation to enable you to do so.

The fact that you're legally allowed (in some locales) to backup your software/DVD purchase doesn't mean the company you purchased it from has any obligation to make it easy, or even possible, for you to do it. It only means that if you find a way to do it, you can't be prosecuted

There is a way to fight it.

            Its called a boycot.

Simply do not buy these discs. If enough people raise their voices loud enough and enough times, especially this early in the game, then perhaps the manufacturer, be it Sony or another, will listen and make some changes. After all, if the product is not selling, then they will do something else to make it sell, like remove the inability to backup the discs.

Its kind of stupid to buy a blu-ray version of a movie you already have and pitch a fit because you cannot backup the blu-ray. What is the point? Simply do not buy the blu-ray version disc or its hardware, regardless of how sweet or how wonderous they make it sound.

            Here..I will fix it!

And, don't forget why quote "Sony wants such harsh encryption of them"

To be able to control you, for their greed, and the love of money.

Ask all the millionaires and billionaires that you know, after they have all the money they desire, that would last several lifetimes over, and they would say their next goal is to control people like the government does.

I couldnt agree more. It is the same with cars these days. There was a time when one could spend a saturday afternoon and change plugs and cables and even change oil. Try that today with these complex, buried engines with barely enough room for the engine itself! They want you to take it to their shop and pay out the ying yang for something that was once as smiple as changing a light bulb.

Oops....I might have just given them ideas to make changing light bulbs as difficult as changing oil!!! My bad!

Didn't one of the car manufacturers design a screw that you needed a special screwdriver to use to change a front head light?

Most large corporations are alike. They don't want to get your money just once. They want to get it from you over, and over, and over again. Scratch your DVD? Have to buy a new one. Bulb burn out in your GM car? Have to take it to GM dealership to replace it. Keep you coming back for more.

just need to find the secrets. changing headlamp assemblies on a 99 and up G/A can be a real task for someo0ne who has never done it. as for the j-body 4T-40E automatics, they want you to bring it back to the dealer, they don't tell you all you have to do is have it idling on a level surface at operating temp and loosen the level check screw under the car and stop filling when it comes out

ever change a passenger compartment air filter on an STS with northstar? even with the book and a mechanicly inclined person--95% chance they can't do it without swearing and busting somethin.

Buy a Subaru, you won't have to do anything (unless it is a 2.5, then the motor will blow-up!)
