WhenU could easily track users across the sites that they visit if they made their server set a cookie. But I have not observed this happening. Essentially, SaveNow does have the capability to be used as spyware, though WhenU may not be using this at this particular point in time.

Yes, it would be quite strange to have ads in multimedia player

I emailed to ALL banner ad agencies and none of them was interested in our website.

As for the stability issues, yes it used to crash but since a year or so it does not - it is pretty stable.

Users can try the free "lite" version and decide whether yes or not to buy "special edition". If they do not want to pay silly $20 bucks they can get it "free" but with ads (which obviously have NO chance to cover those $20)

So indeed, there is a commercial version with additional features and a lite TOTATLY free version with less features.

It's not easy to get ads these days. You may want to add more diverse content to your website.

If you're not hosting the files yourself, then web hosting shouldn't be more than say $20 to $40 per month (assuming a fairly small to average level of traffic).

For advertising, there are quite a few companies (especially for pop-up/under advertising) that are easier to get into than others - have a look specifically at the pop up/under ones here :

There are also pay-per-performance ones (affiliate programs), which may work well in some cases (especially if your site offered related content).

A word about newdotnet. this is very dangerious softwear, not because it can steal your personal information, but it can corrupt your TCP/IP stack, making it impossible to use the internet.

Oh. I see. You are one of those fanatics loving this AdAware, right? In your post below (posted at download.com) you are saying something what is not true. And believe me, New.Net is totaly harmless, only you and alike are so scared about so called "spyware" because someone told you it does nasty things. This someone wants you to buy his "FindNext();" application. Did you know that a unlimited corporate license for AdAware costs $6000. Hey that's a nice little piece of money for "protecting your privacy" WAKE UP MORON, THEY WANT ONLY YOUR MONEY !!!

          "Never use!"
This software, not only includes spyware, it will also REMOVE anti spywear programs like Ad-aware if you have them installed WITHOUT telling you. Dont use it. There are much better free media players out there with no spyware at all.

You must be working for them, arn't you? Regardless of your claims. newdotnet does corrupt TCP stacks, I work in a computer repair shop and I have repaired several computers that had corrupted TCP stacks from newdotnet. Yes, I am a fanatic that loves adaware. I don't like people invading my privacy and slowing down my computer because of spyware that inserts registry keys. I don't like people knowing what websites I visit. Furthermore I am not a company, so for me AdAware is totaly free. In the end, it's a personal choice to install any peice of software. If you want big brother looking in on your web browsing habbits, your welcome to let them. I'm not going to. also, aren't you just after my money by installing spyware on my machine? companies that include spyware in their software get a commission for every clickthrough. We like the truth on this fourm, so kindly take your insults and lies elsewhere.

                RADLIGHT IS A TROJAN HORSE!!

DANGER DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR USE RADLIGHT!!!

It is a Trojan horse!!! This software not only deletes ad-aware, but also ALL miscrosoft applications and ALL competitive audio/video/media players (Winamp, musicmatch, miscrosoft media player)

The response from these hacker/criminals is abusive and defensive. If they are so PROUD of thier "software" than why don't they advertise that it deletes all these files??

DAvenger (RADLIGHT CEO) makes light of this in his posts, but it is definately the WORST most DESTRUCTIVE program I have ever had this misfortune to see. He claims people don't really know what they are doing and that there is "..no way how could RADLIGHT interfere with your OS and make it crash in such a way as you described it here." SEE http://www.radlight.net/viewtopic.php?t=37 and scroll thru DAvengers posts of denial to a user with a problem....

These people at RADLIGHT are so defensive and childish in thier tacticts against LAVASOFT'S AD AWARE program that they have thier forum setup to change any post with the word LAVASOFT to "GAYSOFT" and any post with AD AWARE to "shit" Really professional people.... PLEASE boycott them and their childish, insultive crap.

I personally had RADLIGHT not only delete AD AWARE, but Microsoft office, media player, Aol Instant Messenger, Wordpad, WINZIP, bearshare, limewire, and a host of other applications. Either the developers at RADLIGHT are clueless that they have created this beast, destroying programs all over the place, or they are hackers hell-bent on invading your PC with all the spyware and ad ware they can, while depriving you of any competetive software to thiers (which by the way SUX, it couldn't even play an AVI file or an MOV file)

Whatever posts DAvenger makes here should be disregarded as he is a criminal hacker, located in the former SOVIET UNION, isolated from U.S laws that protect people from people like him.

Brianworf : double (actually quadruple) posting is considered spamming. Do you even have any proof that what you posted is the truth - it all seems a little far fetched to me (considering I test installed RadLight just the other day without any problems).

Also, if RadLight is a trojan/virus, then your or my virus scanner (assuming you have one - and you really should have one that is updated with the latest definition file) should have picked it up.

Complaining is okay. Making accusations without evidence to back it up is probably not okay, but since this isn't court or anything, I am not going to remove all of these posts, at least not the ones posted in the rant forum. Quadruple posting is not okay.

All your posts, except for this one, has been removed - if you continue to post the same/similar message (ie. you have nothing else to contribute, and continue to spam this board), you'll be banned.

                    RADLIGHT IS VERY BAD!!

                    ADMIN<

I can appreciate your concern, and normally I wouldn't do such a thing but I am EXTREMELY concerned about RADLIGHT and its potential to inflict massive harm. I want to do whatever I can do to WARN people about this malicious trojan horse. NO, my current virus scan DOESN'T detect it as a virus/trojan, BUT the new updated data file for Ad-Aware does.

I understand that software developers have to make a living and don't really mind the bundled adware AS LONG AS IT IS IDENTIFIED. RADLIGHT does identify that it is installing adware and newdotnet software, but DOESN'T come with an uninstaller for either. RADLIGHT also doesn't warn you that the software will on first run, DELETE AD AWARE and a host of other software. It seems that if you don't have AD AWARE installed, you don't have any problems. BUT if you do, RADLIGHT deletes every single EXE file that is not currently in use on your PC. That is by very definition a TROJAN HORSE.

I recommend that you load up a machine, and install ad-aware (an older version, the newer version catches RADLIGHT's trick) THEN install RADLIGHT, then open any media file with RADLIGHT and see what happens. If you need, I can send you the older version of AD-AWARE and the version of RADLIGHT I downloaded for your test.

I am sorry if my posting multiple places offended you, but the very notion that a company would put out a deliberate trojan horse offends me. If you want to check out RADLIGHT's childish behaviour, PLEASE go to radlight.net, and click on forums. SIgn up and make a post with the words "ad aware" and "lavasoft" in the body and SEE what happens. Their forum changes them to "shit" and "gaysoft", respectively. NOW thats professional!

If you DON'T believe me, then check out the following links: http://www.lavasoft.de/latest.html
http://www.maxmagnusnorman.com/english/spyware.shtml (scroll to part about RADLIGHT)

Just the FACT alone that you have a specific thread devoted to RADLIGHT AND SPYWARE should PROVE how many people this unscrupulous program has harmed.

Let me say that Brianworf has been doing the same on our forum ... not in such extent but he obviously violated Registration agreement of our forum and thus has been banned for good.

I am not that kind of person who would not listen to the other party. We tested, installed, uninstalled and everything the latest version of RadLight to make sure nothing of this is true. Indeed, it is not.

As for the uninstallers ... 1. Ad supported version of RadLight Special Editon, SAVE! is automatically removed after uninstallation of RadLight.
                        2. New.Net, there is a separate uninstaller provided as this application is not required by RadLight to run.

Brianworf: you should learn more where the Europe is, cos sorry to say but the world isn't only USA

You people have no idea how much time and effort has been invested into development of this basically free software. And you know what? I do not want people like you, Brianworf to use my software. You have no respect to us and you do not deserve to use it.

                          DAVENGER is LYING

As I said before, his malicious software, RADLIGHT is a horrible trojan horse, and HE banned me from thier forum when I posted a warning that it appeared RADLIGHT deleted many other files, along with AD AWARE. I noticed them deleting ALL of the forum posts that said how bad and malicious their software is. They are HIDING and LYING. ANYBODY who doesn't belive me, check out all the links I posted, showing where others have had the same problem with the RADLIGHT TROJAN HORSE. I am glad DAVENGER doesn't want me to use his software, its a piece of junk and I DEFINATELY don't want to use it. I also hope nobody else uses it and supports the criminal activities of RADLIGHT.

I notice that DAVENGER has no answers to the problems I brought up about him, his software and his company??

Any response to your childish changing of the names "ad-aware" and "lavasoft" on your forums?????

How about the FACT that RADLIGHT deleted every EXE file on my PC that wasn't inuse, in addition to AD AWARE??

WHAT kind of tests did you run?? Try the test as I described above and see how RADLIGHT erases ALL EXE files not currently in use.

I sent a NICE EMAIL to RADLIGHT originally, telling them about this apparent major "FLAW" and I got back a really unprofessional email where RADLIGHT told me Quote:
"GO play with your adaware kiddie and stop bulshitting people around." That is why I am on a RADLIGHT WARPATH, I am set to expose them for the criminals they are.

UNINSTALLERS?? I posted to the RADLIGHT forum asking how to uninstall newdotnet, as it DIDN'T Uninstall whehn I removed RADLIGHT. I was able to Uninstall Savenow thru control panel. RADLIGHT replied basically that it was not their concern, contact newdotnet for assistance. There was no "seperate uninstaller" for newdotnet.

GEOGRAPHY: Slovac Republic is in the former Czeckoslovakia, a former state in the SOVIET UNION. Enforcement of U.S. and International Laws against anyone in the former SOVIET UNION, particularly in regards to computer hacking/piracy is non-existent.

I have a VERY GOOD idea how much time and effort has gone into making any software application. It is a shame to ruin it by adding in malicious code to vindictively harm anyone who has AD-AWARE installed, just because you personally have a thing against AD-AWARE. I have LOTS of ad-supported software, even really annoying ones like LIMEWIRE, but I deal with it because I don't mind the software maker earning an income. I run AD AWARE to get rid of the annoying stream of popups, though. AD-AWARE doesn't just terminate every ad program it finds, en masse. YOU have to manually select each and every program to kill. And, you know what, if I LIKE an ad-supported software, I usually BUY a real registered copy.
RADLIGHT needs to grow-up and quit vandalizing people's machines because he doesn't like a certain program. His financial woes and the fact his company can't get sponsorship are due to this malicious vandalism he is doing, he knows it too, and even posted a lame attempt at an appology on LAVASOFT'S forum (http://www.lavasoft.nu/cgi-bin/forum...31;hl=radlight) I notice that LAVASOFT's forum doesn't change the name RADLIGHT into some childish profanity......hmmm who do you think is more professional here???

SURELY there is some other way that RADLIGHT can gain income without resorting to the sleazy tactics he is using. If they want to play games with other people's software, then they can suffer the consequences. I hope there are McDonalds in the Slovak Republic, 'cause thats where DAvenger will end up if he doesn't grow up!

                            Question for DAvenger

                            DAvenger,

BTW, just WHAT rule exactly did I break on your forum to get banned? POSTING the truth about RADLIGHT and the uninstallation of AD AWARE and then also posting about how childish your company is by changing forum posts of AD AWARE and LAVASOFT into "shit" and "gaysoft"???

                            I didn't flame the board.
I didn't make wild or libelous acusations, just told exactly what happened when I installed radlight and it uninstalled ad-aware along with every other EXE file.
I didn't post the unprofessional emails that RADLIGHT sent me in response to my legitimate questions.
I posted a WARNING to potential users to be careful when they installed RADLIGHT because of the backdoor, trojan-horse that deleted all my files. I didn't post the truth that radlight was intentially doing this damage.

So just exactly what did I do? Censoring the truth is not acceptable. Posting the TRUTH is not banned by your registration terms. Critisizing RADLIGHT is not even banned by your terms. REAL companies don't censor out posts that critisize them. Take a look at some of the computer manf. forums (IE H.P) and see how viscious some of the posts about them are. BUT they don't delete them. They try and respond PROFESSIONALLY.

AS for RADLIGHT, and DAvenger, I have made my point and will no longer respond to any posts he makes, UNLESS he actually has a valid answer to my questions. Just like in another thread on this forum, where a user asked DAvenger just exactly what RADLIGHT does, and he replied with "just download it and see" instead of an actual answer, his posts will carry no merit unless
they are fact-based answers as I have requested. DAvenger seems totally uninterested in solving the problem with the software, or else he would have sent me an email back asking EXACTLY what platform I have, what OS, what other software and everything else pertinent. If I was DAvenger, I would be really worried that my US Affiliates would get hit with a lawsuit over loss of data on somebody's computer. I have forwarded the RADLIGHT installer program to the US Attorney General's office and also to the U.S. CIAC office for investigation. I also filed a comlaint with download.com that the program is malicious code.

                            Have a NON-RADLIGHT day!

How about the FACT that RADLIGHT deleted every EXE file on my PC that wasn't inuse, in addition to AD AWARE??
If RadLight did actually do this, I would have heard of it already, and it definetely should have happened to my system as well. I don't even know that many viruses (or is that virii) that can do this. Trust me, the amount of complaint emails I get everyday about software that I list in my software section should have warned me of something like this, just like it warned me about the RadLight Adaware issue. I am sure the tech-savvy websites I visit regularly should have also mentioned it, since they were all over the Adaware issue.

I am not saying that you didn't have all your EXE files deleted, but to say that RadLight did it, would require a lot more evidence to convince me - perhaps the testimony of other users of RadLight, or a link to some news article about RadLight uninstalling EXE files (other than Adaware).

Whatever posts DAvenger makes here should be disregarded as he is a criminal hacker, located in the former SOVIET UNION, isolated from U.S laws that protect people from people like him.
Got any proof on DAvenger being a "criminal hacker"? That's what I mean by making accusations without evidence (ie. accusing DAvenger of being a criminal hacker, suggesting he has been convicted of such a crime or at the very least, evidence he has done this kind of thing before, other than that one instance of RadLight vs Adaware, which I must admit, was not the right thing to do at all). Criminal hackers, especially those in the "former Soviet Union", tend to associate themselves with people like the Russian Mafia or even terrorist groups, and you probably have to have hacked the Pentagon or something before you move from the rank of "script kiddy" to "criminal hacker".

If you've read some of the other posts here, you'll also find that removing applications from someone's computer without their knowledge may not be illegal in the near future, if the RIAA/MPAA gets their way - but that's another issue ...

As for former Soviet Union? Was Czeckoslovakia ever part of the Soviet Union - I always thought that it was just a eastern bloc country, and one of the first to sever it's soviet connections. And from what I hear, most of the hackers that live in the "former Soviet Union" come from some of the poorer countries. Slovac Republic is more similar to East Germany, than to say the Ukraine or the Central Asian republics. Anyway, that's just a small and pointless issue.

As for RadLight's connection to Adaware, that's really really old news (and from what DAvenger tells us, the new versions of RadLight doesn't do this ??). There has never been any accusations (at least none that I am aware of) about RadLight uninstalling any other applications, such as Microsoft Office (actually, I would be glad if someone can write a proper uninstall for MS Office, since I am having trouble uninstalling all parts of it on my old machine, without getting some kind of error - an uninstaller for DirectX 8.1 would also be great).

There is, however, great evidence about adware causing system instability, as I mentioned in this or another similar thread. This is not really the fault of DAvenger, since he didn't write the code for the adware/spyware - but I have always been against adware, and mainly because of the instability issue rather than anything else (such as privacy - I don't live in the US, so I guess I am really targetted by a lot of companies anyware as a "potential buyer", which is actually kind of sad). This is why I don't really support/use any software using adware, not just RadLight (DivX 5.x Pro is also a culprit). The problem of uinstalling spyware is another problem (and again, you can't really blame DAvenger or DivX.com for that, since they didn't write the spyware code or the uninstall routine), and one that makes software such as Adaware so much more important.

Anyway, my *main* issue is with you posting multiple copies of the same post - if I allowed you to do that, then every post made here in the protest/rant forum would be double/triple/quadruple posted in every other forum. Everyone that posted here has a gripe or some kind or another that so annoyed them that it made them sign up to this forum and make a posting - this itself is not an excuse for spamming this board though.

If I really wanted to censor your posts, your original post in this thread wouldn't still be here, and you probably won't be here either to make replies, since you would have been banned already. All I wanted to do was to prevent cross posting, since it gives people a bad impression of my forum and also of your opinions, since people take cross posted items much less seriously (at least I do).

I can tell this for 100%. RadLight does not uninstall AdAware nor MS OFFICE nor DirectX nor ...

One of the previous versions did uninstall AdAware as a form of protest against their uncompetent and biassed way of "making spyware" out of a regular ad clients. All people went really mad and I am really sad that they didn't actually get what was it all about.

What would be the point of removing MS Office or Limewire? I do not get it.

Next, let me remind you that if you mind ads there is a regular paid version for $20.

You violated the rules of our forum (which btw. has not been written by anyone from RadLight but by PHPBB crew) so you have been banned. Simple as that. If you didn't read those rules it is YOUR problem. Get it?

And indeed, Slovak Republic has never been a part of Soviet Union ... but this is really ridiculous.

... I am really sorry what happened to your computer but I have to say I and RadLight aren't the one to blame. I am almost sure you have some virus on your system.

... let's forget your behaviour. If you apologize I would un-ban you from RadLight's forum.

                                Take care
