If you want to backup just the movie (no extras, menus, subtitles etc).

    Use Smartripper.

If the movie is bigger than 4.7Gb you will need to use Ifoedit and ReMPEG2.

To burn the Movie to a DVD disc something like Nero or DVD Factory.

It's not an easy process, it'll take a bit of learning.

Read the forums, put the time in, pull your hair out a bit, and then get the statisfaction of getting it right !!!

I know a powerful, high efficient and is easy to use tool to convert a DVD movie to a Divx file, that is "Dvd to Divx" ,only takes up 1/10 original DVD space . You can download the trial version free from http://www.***********.com
You can use Divx Pro 5.0.2 as codec which you can download free at http://www.divx.com , also download Divx Player at http://www.divx.com to play back Divx movies or PowerDVD downloading at internet .
Why not have a try ?

Surprise, surprise. Members nobilia28 and the recently suspended dvdhackmaster share the same IP block.

I would have thought that after the the warning I posted yesterday, and dvdhackmaster's subsequent suspension, this spammer would have at least waited a few days before trying to spam again. I guess spammers are just not very smart people.

Both's accounts have been permanently suspended from this forum.

The scam site they keep on linking to will now have it's URL censored (replaced with *), so no one will be able to link to it ever again.

Their IP block has been banned, so they can't sign up again.

To sum up : spammers are not welcomed on this board!!

          Thanks to both of you

I used Smart Ripper as you suggested but when I try playing back the vobs with PowerDVD there is no sound!

          Any idea why?

          Thanks!

            just a suggestion..

If you want to back up your dvd's to a cd, like I do, then give DVD2SVCD a try. You need to install TMPGEnc or Cinema Craft Encoder, and then install DVD2SVCD. These work together to give you an Ultimate SVCD backup. Once you have started the program, ( DVD2SVCD ) just go to sleep for the night, when you awake, you will have a SVCD with Excellent quality...

              Moondog,

When using Smartripper, use "Movie" mode.

Checkout the "Stream Processing" tab. Make sure the "Enable Stream Processing" box is NOT checked. If it is, uncheck it.

The only tick here might be (0xE0) Video NTSC / 4:3 / 720X480

I am assuming you get audio from Power DVD when you use a normal DVD disc ?

                Opps!!

                Hello,

Turns out I am NOT getting any sound when I use powerDVD to play DVD's on my pc! And I see a light blinking on my Cambridge Soundworks DTT3500 Digital device that seems to indicate no signal... I better check the audio cables to the DVD burner

                Thanks for the tip...
