Any success burning DVD-Video with nero 5.5.9.15 and Sony DRU 500A?

I just bought a Sony DRU 500A to replace my Pioneer 103 which died.

The latest Nero (5.5.9.14) is supposed to
support it, but I've tried about ten different movies that all burnt fine with the Pioneer, and they all fail in the simulator under Nero with "write error".

Anyone else having problems?

Sigh. Errors errors errors. Can't burn
with Nero, can't burn with DVDit.

Prassi and RecordNow Max don't recognize the drive.

I guess I'll return the drive and order a Pioneer.

Got my Pioneer A04 today and it works great! Sorry Sony, you lose.

Pionneer is the best. I use Nero 5.5 (Just use the wizard burning part, it's so easy ) and haven't made one bad disc yet. And so far it plays on every desktop players using cheap disc DVD pro media from Meritline.com

Been using my DRU500A for 2 weeks with no problems. Nero, ImpressionPro, MyDVD, Roxio, WinDVD Creator. All worked fine. No coasters.
You must have gotten a defective unit.

Hey there. I know this is an older forum, but I just thought I'd add my two cents. I have a DRU 500A burner and I tried to go into Nero and burn a DVD. It didn't see my burner. I downloaded the latest update (5.5.9.17) and it saw it. The only problem now is that I have a TDK VeloCD burner and that version of Nero only works with TDK Burners.

Now I have one question to add. When I put all of the VOB files and others that "DVD Decrypter" got off my disc, it is over 5GB...how can I burn this onto a DVD+R or DVD-R?

You can't. It's too big. It has to be under 4.4 gig You have to either stip it down to one audio track using IFOedit. I usually keep the 5.1 audio sometimes with one subtitles or none depend on how big the file is.
With IFOedit strip streams you'll end up with just the movie and audio and subtitles (depending on what you want to keep) No menu FBI warning or extra.
