    burning DVD

    Hi there.

I am testing a DVD writer for a friend and doing an experiment.

I don't exactly know how to burn a video file so it can be played like a DVD Disc, if u know what I mean.

I used TMPGENC to convert a DIVX file to DVD (DVD pal) in the wizard. all done great.

ok, so if I use nero, i can drag and drop the wav file and it does it but if I drag and drop the .m2v video file, it says it don't support it, only .vob .ifo etc.. files.

I tried using instant CD/DVD but that wrecked the DVD RW disc!

I am wondering, when I have converted a DIVX file TO DVD using TMPGENC, what software do I use to burn them as a DVD video Disc so I can watch them on my PC/DVD player?

would the same apply for if I was backing up DVD's, like ripping the DVD, converting it to DVD MPEG 2 using TMPGENC then burning it? or would it be different?

    Thanks

so, what does this actually do? convert the Mp2 files to VOB and then i can burn in nero? or what?

cause right now, i have an mp2 file and the pcm wave audio file and need to convert the mp2 file to vob so nero can accept it, am i doing it correctly/

Once you've used this software, you'll have created a set of DVD-compliant files (including menus, if you like) - ready to burn to DVD-R, DVD+R, etc...

The following is a quote from the initial page of the software's "Help" file:

"TMPGEnc DVD Author is software that can change (author) your MPEG-1/2 files to DVD-Video format. You can author MPEG-1/2 files based on the DVD standard, from either DVD-Video made by a DVD recorder, or video captured on a PC."

        (Video - either .m2v or .m1v

        Audio - .mp2)

          yeh..thanks very much

i have converted them, dragged and dropped the wav file in the audio folder in nero and the video files in the video folder that TMPGENC created in the video folder of nero, and burning it.

it has gone to 100% and is stuck there for the past 3 mins but the timer is still running

          is anything wrong here?!?!?!?

the firmware of the DVD has been updated to read these discs...

          :-s

          aaaaa

"dragged and dropped the wav file in the audio folder"

            1) You haven't read my posts very carefully "(Video - either .m2v or .m1v

            Audio - .mp2)"

Using TMPGEnc DVD Author, you've got to use "Load file" to load the videostream and then again to load the audiostream (NOT a .WAV file) - and then create your DVD structure

            2) NOTHING goes into the "AUDIO_TS" folder - Use NERO's "DVD-Video" mode and copy ALL files from within your hard drive's "VIDEO_TS" folder into the red "VIDEO_TS" folder

              hmmm

well it works for me perfectly...

all i did was exactly what i said

convert the avi/d2v prject to DVD in TMPGENC encoder

              then use that authering software

then drag the wave file and drop in audio folder in nero and drag all the video files in to the video folder in nero and burn

works on my standalone DVD player even!

There is no need to put the wav-file in the audio_ts-folder. The sound is allready included in the vob-file(s). It's only a waste of space. If you want to save some more space you can also convert the sound to MP2, which will save up to 1000kbps or more.

Not so. If your sound is embedded in your VOB file. Which obviously your isn't there is no need for anything to be in the AUDIO_TS folder but you have to have one even if it is empty
