Virtualdub problem

When i loaded a file into Virtualdub i get the message "pack synchronization error".Does anybody know if there is a way i can load this file into Virtualdub,or any other way i can make this file ready to use in TMPGEnc?

I 've seen this error when trying to insert an mpeg2 file to earlier versions of virtualdub. Virtualdub-mod supports mpeg2 files provided you have renamed them to vob.
Recent versions of tmpgenc can open mpeg2 files. Earlier versions can also do after you have installed an mpeg2 plugin for tmpgenc (m2v_vfp-0.3.6.zip or ...0.4.6.zip). Thanks for the advice.I got round the problem by converting the file to avi format using OSS Video converter,but thanks anyway.
