how do i convert an avi divx mpeg4 v3 with a 6channel soundtrack into a dvd?

Simple, just used DVD authoring software like Sonic DVDit or any DVD authoring software.
Latest nero edition already had Nero Vision for Simple DVD authoring.
If you had problem converting MPEG4 to MPEG2 (DVD Standard compression), then you can use FlaskMPEG or VirtualDubMOD.

Suggestion demux first all 6 channel sounds into 6 different wav files before mux it with DVD authoring software.

ive tried to demux the 6channel audio to a wav, using tmpgenc to do everything, which i can then remux using ifoedit but it doesnt work. normally id use dvd2avi to decode to a wav then remux but i dont know how to do this with an avi. azid seemed to be the solution but that seems to only output 2 channel .

If you had AVI with AC3 sound embedded, then you can extract it using NanDub or VirtualDub with Audio Direct Stream Copy enabled, then save it as WAV file. After that just rename .wav into .ac3 and then use AZID to extract 6 channel sound out .

Note : You must have AC3 codec installed properly first before doing that ! Just grab the right codec at Tsunami codec Filters pack.

The simplest way to extract the .AC3 audiostream from your .AVI, with NO additional conversion necessary, is to:

1) Load the .AVI into VirtualDubMod (NOT "plain" VirtualDub)

2) From the "Streams" dropdown menu, select "Stream List"

3) Highlight (if more than one audiostream) your .AC3 audiostream

4) Click on the "Demux" radio button

5) Save with a new filename (with an .AC3 extender)

ok but

ive got the ac3 ive converted the avi into m2v, but i still cant author a dvd, i either get no sound or some sort of noise like a fax machine. ive now tried using sonic foundry's vegas 4.0, to go from avi with dolby digital 5.1 to dvd, but that says something about the audio stream attributes that it doesnt like.

As I said in your other VERY SIMILAR thread here, I guess that's one of the many problems you can run into when you're dealing with somebody else's work, rather than videos that you've created...

i used virtualdubmod and yes it plays fine my xcard and dd amp recognises it as a 5.1 stream. just everything else doesnt seem to like it. should i try to use besweet to convert it to some sort of wav?

If you're willing to use a .WAV file, do the following with the original .AVI file:

To convert .AC3 files to .WAV format:

**IMPORTANT - VirtualDub v.1.4AC3 is a specific MODIFIED version of VirtualDub!

Load the .AVI file into VirtualDub v1.4C-AC3, set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying" and select (under "File") "Save WAV" - and save as .AC3 (IMPERATIVE to save as .AC3!).

Despite the fact that .AC3 file extracted using VDub-AC3 doesn't play properly, PX3AC3Converter (or BeSweet) will do a perfect job of converting it to .WAV format.

(Note: Using VirtualDubMod instead of VirtualDub v.1.4AC3 may also accomplish this properly - I just haven't personally used it for this purpose. I'm sure someone, such as UncasMS, will eventually come along to post whether or not this is correct)

whilst looking at the audio stream in virtualdubmod i noticed it lists the description of the audio track. it reads "avi audio stream 1 (tag 0x2000,ac3), i think this is why all my programs wont work with this audio file. is there a way to edit the description or run the audio file through a program to fix it?

ive extracted the ac3 using vdubmod and then re-loaded it to look at its attributes. they are as follows: ac3 5ch 48000hz 448.0kbps (bitstream v8). so it has changed it on demux, why dont the programs like it then?
