Have you tried the builtin dropdown "Help" menu? It provides step by step information for this procedure...

what exactly is your problem trying to do so?

i used a background which i created in photoshop before and it worked fine.

without more details further help seems impossible from my p-o-v

i imported the psd as background pic

in ps i created a background and three rectangles (containing additinal graphics)

each of these three squares was being recognised by dvdlab as a seperate *layer* and i was able to link from these three squares to the destination - i.e. three different movies.

on another instance i used a background pic and typed textinfo onto it in dvdlab.
again i linked each line with a particular movie element.

                all of that worked fine.

Hold the "Shift" key while dragging the picture from the "Assets" to "Menu"...
