Help needed

Hey everyone, I'm a new user so I don't know where I should be posting this topic, so don't jump on my back for posting in the wrong section... but...

I am going to be working with constructing a DVD. I was wondering if there was a pro here who could explain to me everything I need, need to know etc. I need to know about reencoding files, how to either save VOB files from an existing DVD a certain way so that compression doesn't screw up the quality or how to edit vob files (syncing audio, fixing picture qualities, etc). I need to know how to construct a DVD and how to make an interactive menu. I also need to know a few other things....

If anyone who is extremely good with any of this, could you please let me know so I can PM my questions to your, or we could talk in AIM, which would be easier.

Perhaps you might be a bit more specific regarding:

1) Your input source(s)

A) Already existing DVDs

B) Capturing - from videotape, digital camcorder, television, Internet - initial video and audio formats regarding capture

2) What related software you have

3) What related software you know how to use

4) What the final DVD's content will be

5) How you want the menu to "flow"

Input Sources: A dvd-rom, that's it...

Related Software:

A) Smartripper - fairly straightforward, so I know how to use it
B) DVD2AVI - I only know the basics

I have no clue at all how the construction of the DVD works, or what you mean by how it's going to flow... I have no idea how how to make one or anything... I don't know what programs to use or anything...

since you have an internet connection you have the biggest
public library at hand right in your home.

asking a question or maybe more is one thing. asking for a tutor
that "feeds" you with information as you want it??? you hardly find such a person here.

maybe there is one ...... volunteers step forward!!!

I suggest that you simply start reading some articles ( maybe on this site or others) and then step ahead, if you have questions.

Sorry , but since noone knows what you already know.....
there is no "whooho , teach me all that you know"!!!

If you are really interessested in digital video... show some
"engagement" and start out yourself.....

ulead dvd movie factory (with ulead dvd workshop)

ADOBE ENCORE......
it depends on your needs and what you want to achieve.....

for converting or encoding movies into mpeg2 (dvd compliant)

The best and fastest tool is the Cinema Craft Encoder along with avisynth frameserver!!!!
Tmpeg Encoder is also good.

for copying dvds and normal reauthoring purposes: DVDShrink

for decrypting and ripping: DVDdecrypter.

for copying dvds with lumimasking analysis method: instant copy 7

For you as a beginner, I believe you'll find "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (different than "TMPGEnc") to be an easy-to-use menu making program.

You'll find a link for it (you can download a fully functional free 30 day trial version) by clicking on the DVDR Digest tab at the top of this page.

Since you don't know much about DVD copy, re-author, create menus,etc,..., I don't know how to help you about it, but I have a suggestion for you:
If you want to copy DVD movies and re-author the way you like, you may use Sonic MyDVD to copy the DVD into your hard-drive, and use Ulead Media Studio or Adobe Premiere to edit it. After that, you may use Ulead Video Studio 6 or DVDit to create menus, etc...The best software that help you to create DVD movie is Scienarist (the price for this program as written on doom9.org is $39,000.00.) I don't know you want to do what, but if you are the fast learner, you may go to http://www.doom9.org/ and read all of the articles on that website, I beleive you will be an expert on this (if not, you will know much more than before and you may never come back to this forum to ask.)

The best way to copy DVD is keeping the way it is, you don't have to re-author anything when the commercial DVD has been made by the expert (they usually use Scienarist to make DVD movies). With this purpose (copy DVD), you may use DVD Shrink.
