    DVD-R's vs. DVD-RW's.....

    Anyone find a significant difference when burning a dvd-r vs. a dvd-rw?

I can't seem to get a good burned copy when using a dvd-rw. They skip, freeze and then eventually stop playing. Plus they won't play in my newer standalone player.

The dvd-r's burn great 95% of the time and play in both my new and old standalone players.

Is this "normal" or do I need to change my settings when burning to a dvd-rw?

    I use dvd2one and nero 5.5.10.

    Thanks!

"I can't seem to get a good burned copy when using a dvd-rw"

Probably just inferior quality media and nothing to do with -R versus -R/W...

I have been using optodisc dvd-rws. Are those considered inferior? If so what do you recommend?

          DVD-R Verses DVD-RW

          Hope this helps

DVD-RW should play well on your PC BUT will not play well on many DVD Players.

DVD-R plays well on setop DVD Players and on PC's

          Hope this helps

I have yet to see a standalone DVD player that plays DVD-Rs any differently than it plays the same brand/quality of DVD-R/Ws...

              Guess what

You are going to have to take my word here, but I have a setop DVD Player that hates -RW,s

Now we learn something every day

                To hessey

                The SAME brand/quality of DVD-R/Ws as DVD-Rs?

                  Verbatim dvd-rw vr's dvd-r.

                  Sony DVP-S560D dvd player.

Does not play dvd-r's but will play dvd-rw,Perfect.
If you use DVDXCopy 1.5.2 will play DVD-R's BUT with a break down of the video over a few mins and gets choppy and pixels.
If you use Nero 5.5 it will play dvd-rw perfect, But not dvd-r's.

                  Oritron 300 model. DVD player.

Using dvdxcopy1.5.2 will not play dvd-r's (choppy and pixels)
Using nero 5.5 will play using dvd-r's But choppy and pixels and lockup, but will play using dvd-rw's. perfect all the time.

Using nero with the latest update.
