    DVD Limitations

Can anyone confirm for me the physical limitations of what can be stored on a DVD. I read somewhere that I cannot have more than 99 videos or images on a single disc? Is this true and why if I can fit thousands of jpegs for example into 4.7GB

    I'm Confused !!

    Thanks,

There's no such limitation of which I'm aware.

Perhaps you read about an earlier version of DVD Shrink (DVD compression software) previously being limited to 99 TITLES and 99 CHAPTERS...

What I'm trying to do is create a DVD of photographs of the kids etc which I have scanned in (took months!)

I haven't been able to find any authoring software which will let me create an album I can flick through at my own pace. DVD Picture Show by ULEAD allows me to create an album with a max of 99 images but these are displayed for a pre-determined period such as 5 seconds.

I want to have maybe 1 album for each year of the kids growing up that I can flick through at my own pace.

Any ideas how I can do this or why it can't be done.

      Thanks again,
      McGoo

You can have up to 999 PGCs (ProGramm Chains) in a VTS (VideoTitleSet) and up to 99 VTSs on a DVD, where a PGC can be a video, slide show, still picture or a menu using one of those.

So, this would mean quite a few photos on one DVD. I would recommend getting a Trial of ReelDVD from Sonic, it works with only one VTS, but it should still be enough.

        hope this brings you further

          Thanks LotD

I have found the Sonic website and you have given me some hope. It seems that alot of the various authoring packages available (the cheaper ones anyway) have some limitations.

I better get some more scanning done then. while I'm downloading.

Have a go with MyDVD demo while you are there - it has pretty good slide show creation - not sure if there is a limit on the number though....

I like Studio 8, you can "drag" your photo's/file's into the "movie-frame" and you can drag a "wipe" between your pictures,
or other effects, so the photo's are nice "connected" like a slide-show, you can add a nice (background) soundtrack, and add tittles with all kind of font types... shadows, etc...
              Thanks,

              David.
