I've given up using Nero Vision to make my DVD's, as recommended by most on this forum i now use TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 to convert all my movie files and then TMPGEnc DVD Author to make the DVD. both programs are downloadable.
the only advantage that nero vision has over TMPGEnc DVD Author is the ability to create much nicer menus.
with regards to your DVD not playing, i too am finding the same problem. its to do with the media & how new your home DVD player is. apparently the best media to use is Ritek, get them here - http://www.meritline.com/ritekdvdrdvdrw.html
not tried them yet, but i tried Memorex DVD's and TDK dont seem to reliable.
