    Yeah, it seems much more % of DVD movie back-up software problems are caused by spyware/adware deleting specific O.S. dll's, etc. which back-up software specifically require to function correctly. Really bad thing about it is internet security/virus software doesn't detect such scumstuff. I am sure MPAA loves this plague.

    After reading that thread, more people should understand my (and others) advice to do a O.S. re-install and not download some specific freeware, is really a good idea.

      I'm wondering if it might be better to surf online all the time via a proxy in order to subvert all this spyware, but it probably wouldn’t help.

        I believe anonymous posters use several proxies to confuse people...and the guys posting the really bad stuff troll neighborhoods looking for people who have wireless LAN's set up...and post as if they were them.

          I use Ad-aware which is free to detect spyware. You can get at this address http://www.lavasoft.nu/software/adaware/ hope this is of use.
