DVD Studio Pron on a Mac. Very comprehensive and easy to use.

Sorry not Studio Pron or even Studio Porn, but Studio Pro is what I meant to say.

Assuming you have access to a MAC (minimum spec G4 733mhz), then, for the money, you simply cannot compete with DVD SP 2. It's essentially Maestro ported to the MAC, and at a price so cheap, Apple can only just cover the cost of the Dolby licensing!

It's not perfect - the abstraction layer does have it's caveats, but despite this, you can't touch it with anything on Windows without spending a serious wad of cash

there's nothing wrong with scenarist. I use it all the time, a brilliant program.
History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it.

I'm guessing he means 'intimidating' - something with a fearsome learning curve.

...in which case,, DVD SP 2 would be less intimidating to learn that Scenarist (although Scenarist is ultimately a little more powerful at the extreme end of the authoring spectrum). It's horses for courses. I reckon SP2 is the best compromise for the price.

well it takes a little effort to get started with scenarist, but once you get used to it, there's no stopping you

Yeah, sure, apart from the crippling interest repayments on the license cost!
