Tmpg making some movie files huge!

just got my friend to use tmpg as i have used it to great success over the last few months.

the first file we tested was an xvid ac3 movie. flicked through the project wizard to find that the 89 minute movie was now reported as 241 minutes! and around 6gig?

tested a few other movies, some did a similar thing whilst others reported correct time and size.

we're now trying to find a common denominator with these files. the only thing that i can think of is that my friend went a bit nuts a while ago & intalled way too many codecs against my advice to get ffdshow (which he now also has)

if anyone has experienced this before, I would be very gratefull if you can offer a fix.

    thanks

    fixed it.
uninstalled every single codec & downloaded & installed the latest ffdshow, only just released 1st july. everything (even movies that played jerky) now play perfectly.

I have the same problem, where did you download the codecs from?

        try this place

FFDSHOW is a super-fast DirectShow decoding filter for decompressing DivX, XviD, WMV, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 movies and supports subtitles as well. If you ever want to watch movies, get this!

remember to get rid of every codec installed by other codec packs. i found a great deal of conflicting codecs on his computer.

just remember that ffdshow is just a filter, not a codec, ie it can be used for playback only, not for encoding.
