Fire Wire and Sony Camera

I have a Sony TRV520e Camera and a Toshiba Satellite M30 portable with a firewire conector and the bundled Intervideo Vers 2 capture software but can not see my camera when I try to capture the video. Is there a driver I should load for the camera or something I should do to set it up. I am very new to Firewire and Digital Video. There is nothing in the manuals about loading drivers etc.

What OS are you using? WINXP should pick it up without any drivers. Not to sure about 2000 and 98

Windows XP and from the knowledge base it seems it needs a driver (windows imaging application) Microsoft lists the embeded drivers and says others should be obtained from product manufacturer. I have had no joy with either.
