Help!!!

I got a DVD burner for my birthday, and to make a long story short I decided I want to burn a couple DVD's. However, when I try to place the file into TMPGEnc I get a ' File "path/dmd.avi" can not open, or unsupported. '

Also, when I try to load the video file in VirtualDubMod, I get the following error:

A) If not already done, download and install an XviD (NOT DivX) codec

B) Converting .AVIs with VBR-MP3 Audio for use with TMPGEnc

Using VirtualDubMOD to Convert "VBR" .MP3 to Uncompressed .WAV

1) Load the .AVI file into VirtualDubMOD (a different program than the standard VirtualDub)

2) From the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Direct Stream Copy"

3) From the "Streams" dropdown menu, select "Stream List" - and rightclick on the audio stream, then select "Full Processing Mode" - then click on "OK"

4) From the "File" dropdown menu, save .AVI with a new filename

2) What version of TMPGEnc (Different than "TMPGEnc DVD Author") are you using?

3) What procedures are you using in "TMPGEnc"? Are you using the DVD template/"wizard"?

I think I've solved the problem, my TMPGenc Plus somehow managed to become corrupted. However, I'm having trouble compressing the movie into burnable format. Do you have any idea of a good program that can compress the movie?

One set of procedures (other posters may/probably will suggest alternative methods) would be:

1) If not already DVD-compliant, use "TMPGEnc" (or "TMPGEncPlus") to convert the MPEG to compliant MPEG2-for-DVD format - Use "TMPGEnc's" DVD wizard/template to accomplish this (This step should probably not be necessary, since your MPEG-2 filies should already be in DVD compliant format)

2) Use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (a different program than "TMPGEnc") to easily create the required additional DVD files and structure (and chapters and a menu, if you wish)


**If the combined filesize of the DVD "package" written to your hard drive is greater than 4.37Gb, use DVD Shrink (or similar) to compress


If your O/S is either Win2000 or WinXP, TMPGEnc DVD Author can also burn your DVD. Otherwise, use NERO to burn in "DVD-Video" mode
(As an alternative to "TMPGEnc DVD Author", you could use "DVDLab")

Compressed it to fit within 4.7 GB but it is still giving me problems. I'm using Nero Express to burn it, and placed all of the files under VIDEO_TS allocating around 3.7 gigs of space. However, I recieve the error "There is not enough space to burn this compliation onto this disc." but it only takes up 3.32 GB of space to be accurate. I'm using Maxell DVD+R discs with 4.7 GB / 2 hrs. Why isn't this working?

Burnt it but with no sound. When creating the files with TMPGEnc am I allowed to use the .avi for both video and audio files? Also, do I have to make it into an uncompressed .wav file and if so how do I do that using VirtualDobMod?

I'm now sensing that you simply don't read very carefully.

No, I did all those steps. It didn't play with sound on my PC but it played perfectly on my Xbox. It works at 100%, and it's all because of you. I was just wondering if I had to do that for time perservance. I just wanted to make sure I did it right if I had to uncompress it.
