What authoring tool do you recommend?

I am using fusion right now, and I am set back because of the audio issue. I placed a post earlier.
Just curious what programs you all are using, and what offers easy to use, but gives you the freedom to create your own menus, own buttons, and highlights, and you can simply plop your mpeg 2 you created in TMPG in and everything should go smoothly.

    Thanks

I've tried a couple programs and the best one so far is SpruceUp. It doesn't encode anything as far as I can tell, you must feed it mpeg2 and mpeg-2 audio or AC3 files....but it works flawlessly.

I tried DVDIt LE and DVDIt Pro and MyDVD and Ulead MovieFactory and none of them hold a candle to Spruce Up. DVDit is even worse it crashes all the time on my WinXP system.

Last I heard Spruce up was bought by Apple...

How do you people test these programs??? There aren't any trials of the professional authoring systems downloadable, and they're hard to find as warez.

Does anyone know where you can still get a working copy of SpruceUp? I have the trial but it will only let you do 2 exports. I like the program, and I can't even buy it.

Any one that could help please let me know.

            Thanks.

              Hear Hear,

I'm in need of this Serial Number as well!! As you can't buy it any more, I've had to download SpruceKG.exe, which should be able to give a correct serial number.

However, I've tried this on both versions 1.1 and 1.061b of SpruceUp and it doesn't work.

I know it's probably against forum rules to publish serial numbers, but if anyone could point me and svtcontour
in the right direction we'd appreciate it!!!

              Cheers

The same did it happen to me at first but the kg.exe is not the problem. There is a .info file with the .exe after you unzip.Open it with notepad and read and do exactly as it says.It should unlock the program. But if not, uninstall or delete all spruceup installed files, then reinstall, open the program and choose trial. Then follow the instructions in the notepad carefully. It will open it then.I hope this works .If not email me at mysterydoc@hotmail.com, I'll send my kg.exe.Remember, this is intended for use on 1.061 version.I have never tried it on the newer version and I guess there is no key for that version.

SpruceUp doesen't have that many features. I would rate it good at consumer level. In order to get the serial number. Reinstall the program. Open it. Enter in a fake serial number you can get in spruceUp KG left corner. spruceUp will go in trial mode. Go to about > registeration upgrade> then copy the number from spruceUP paste it into Spruceup KG and copy that from Spruceup KG and post it into SpruceUp and it worked.I had to restart the computer so it will be out of trial mode.
Note: It did not work the first time because I opened up the program 8-11 times.I reinstalled it then it worked. Raymond

I don't like Spruceup because it doesen't allow to set a first play before the main menu. Also, I don't know how to set chapters. I have 30 videos, I want to set them each as a chapter. I don't know how to.Does anyone know.
Note: When I drop each video into spruceup it sets all of the cideos as chapter1 and I have 30 diferent mpeg2 clips that I would lik to use together. I have pro-authoring programs, but I wanted to test a burn with SpruceUP. Thanks Also I am looking for a Pro-Hollywood Quality Mpeg2 Encoded that use vbr and compresses.

although it took a long time for them to release it, the new dazzle dvd complete product was worth waiting for. i bought it two weeks ago (only $99) and have authored 3 dvds so far without any problems. great wizards, motion menus, highly stable (not one crash yet) and high quality encoding. could use more menu background editing features, but they say that's in the next update

                        Thanks MysteryDoc!!!

Just tried that fix and it works fine. I just needed to delete the .hid file first.

                        Cheers
