      Authoring Software

      Hi,

I am researching several DVD Authoring Software. Could anyone give me some pros and cons of the top three programs that you would recommend for a company specializing in commericals and music Videos to make a DVD portfolio. Here are the Choices:

      Pinnacle Impression
      ULead DVD Workshop
      Sonic DVDit! PE
      Sonic ReelDVD
      DVDMaestro
      DVDVirtuoso

take in mind also the best bang for the buck. I am looking for the one that gives me the most control over everything.

      thank you
      sarah

        Lo,

Just thought that it might come in handy to know that having just got a Pioneer 104 burner and tested most of the sw mentioned, spending 2 weeks having nightmares getting disks to work in my pc + standalone and going grey in the process i now have a good configuration that now does everything i need.

Mainly working on avi's i convert the files to mpeg2 in Tmpge at a good old rate of 12 hours+ :-P. Dunno if its my setup but all the other proggies seem to give lower quality piccy?
SpruceUp then seems to be the most friendly tool for authoring(creating menus, buttons, chapter index's, etc) BUT the only thing is if i set it to write straight to DVD it fails, after a very nice 2 hours of compiling hehe. The only way i got it to work was to set SpruceUp to write to .img file and then burn from that. Bizarrely, after 6+ duff test burns using various proggies i found that Ulead Moviestudio was the only one that correctly burned an image file. Nero, DVDeo, DVDit, QuickBuilder, Videostudio and VOB Instant wouldnt touch it.

Hopefully this may be of some help coz believe me since buying my burner over 3 weeks ago i now have no hair, no job, no marrage and no life, BUT hey....... ive got working dvd-r

Oh yeah just one other thing, the media i am using are only cheap old £1.69 disks from local shop and they work a treat - about $1 i think for all you guys in the US ?? Just goes to show...
