Interlacing problems, it seems to be...

I've been burning some series to DVD now...The problem is that it becomes choppy, much like when u rip from DVD but the interlacing makes the movie stutter, just now it's when I'm burning to DVD this happens...

The files is encoded in DivX and XviD, and I use NeroVision Expresss 3

Any help is appreciated

i had a similar troubles when burning a DVD.
it turned out that converting from Pal to Ntsc or visa versa would produce 'choppy playback' due to the difference in frame rate.
try keeping the files in their original format. ie PAL

The files are mostly 23 fps, and some of them are 119/120 fps (the last one comes from different fps in show and OP/ED)...
But I didn't find a place to set the fps...It seems to be automatically set to 25 fps in NeroVision, but I'll check once more to see if I overlooked it

Any explanation of what to do with the 119/120 fps files would be appreciated

EDIT: What about interlacing? Should I use it or not?

I'd suggest using GSpot Codec Appliance.
this will tell you everything about the movie.

NTSC standard is 23.97 & 29.97fps
PAL standard is 25fps

if you click on 'MORE' bottom of your Nero Vision window and select 'Video Options' you can select the Country standard ie. NTSC for USA & Japan
Use GSPot first to determine the fps and then select the correct country.

dont know about your 120fps files, but im sure it cant be right!

But one more thing, how to avoid the program cutting the picture? It cuts a little on the sides, so some of the subs miss

EDIT: The stuttering became worse with NTSC...It increases with the fps increase...
So, is it possible to convert it into a 23,97 fps MPEG-2 stream, or what else can I do?

sounds like you're using the wrong aspect ratio.

your movie should either be 4:3 (fullscreen) or 16:9 (widescreen) . get it wrong and it'll either cut or stretch.

if you're really not sure which to choose, GSpot will tell you.

Found that the episodes wasn't exactly 4:3, I think...Fixed the fps to 23, and only thing I need now is a program that can split and merge AVI and MPEG-2 files...Any suggestions?

tmpg can merge mpeg files, exit the wizard, file, mpeg tools.
if i remember correctly, it wont join avi files, try 'easy video joiner'
or google search it, there are tonnes of programs that'll merge & cut.
also, a great FREE avi editing tool is Vdub (www.virtualdub.org)
load up your avi, select - file, apend avi segment and load up your second file. make sure under video and audio that you choose 'direct stream copy' or it will re-encode your video. then file, 'save as avi' and you have a perfectly joined video.

It isn't possible to burn it with 23.97 fps...Any other method to make it smooth when I increase fps?

you want to try and keep the FPS as close to the original as poss.
this is how to ensure smooth playback.
