MenuShrink ver 1.0 - utility for shrinking DVD motion menus to still frames

The current record, as far as I know, is held by Whitespliff over at doom9, who shrunk Mulholland Drive's menus from 1849.63MB down to 6.93MB with audio! That's 1842MB saved!

I saw that in the user manual.

I forgot to add the version number. I have PowerDVD 6 and it does it with media player classic as well.

The biggest difference so far from my collection is 700MB to 20MB with audio and 4MB without audio. I can't remember what the DVD was.

Ah! Then something's awry. All that MenuShrink does is to execute the following command line:
PowerDVD.exe video_ts.ifo
(where in fact, the path to PowerDVD is used, and the path to video_ts.ifo is fully qualified).
So can you try that command line in a dos window (with the exact path to PowerDVD and the full path to the ifo file)? If it does work then something's wrong with MenuShrink if that does not work, then I'm not sure what's wrong.
What version of windows are you using, by the way?

It does the same. I am using Windows XP.

Argh! This means MenuShrink isn't at fault. but then I really don't understand what's wrong (that works fine on my XP box). What's surprising is that both PowerDVD and media player behave the same...
Is there something unusual about your paths or anything like that? I can't think of something to try for you (and it's too bad, the preview feature is really useful).

915MB!! Well, it's true that in a DVD-9, that's only about 10% of the space (still a lot), but I really wonder why they use so much space on menus... Thanks for the good feedback!

My paths are the default ones.

I have the PowerDVD shortcut next to menushrink anyway.

The menus are large for R2. They often have menus in different languages.

I remember what the 700MB menu I had. It was Pulp Fiction R2.

This DVD had so much unreferenced material on it (taking up god knows how many millions of Mb - they could put this in but not chapters LMAO) that it can not qualify for a record. Since they can be eliminated by IfoEdit or VobBlanker in a twinkling of an eye, the Unreffed should be deducted before the final savings are calculated - IMHO, of course.

So, I think the record books need rewriting.

C'mon jeanl, how about a level playing field???? A bit of fairness if you please!

A question and possible problem, however.

I'm getting a message " I can't find file MenuShrinkBackup/VIDEO_TS.VOB or I can't move it to the backup directory."

I tried MenuShrink with Band of Brothers (Disk 5) without audio and it worked just fine. I then 'restored backup' and tried with audio and received this message.

I've scanned the forums but didn't come across anything.

mmm, can you find this file VIDEO_TS.VOB somewhere (either in the backup folder or in the original folder)? THis problem can happen if you have another program using the file (locking it), like a player.
Locate the file, and move it back into the original folder, then try again. That should fix it. If you can't move the file, that's because it's in use by another program...

Yeah, that was the problem. I was fooling around in Shrink and it must have been locked.

I have already cleared precious space on my desktop for this app.
