Title/Chapter Next Button

When I reauthor a DVD it plays fine.
However, the Next button on my DVD will only move to the next chapter within a title, but not to the next title.

Title 1
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
Title 2
Chapter 1
Chapter 2

So if I am watching Title 1 Chapter 3
pressing the next button does nothing.

I presume that you have used "DVD Shrink" in "Re-author" mode. To accomplish what you are seeking to do, try using an "Authoring" program such as "TMPGEnc DVD Author" or "DVD Lab". You will have much more control with the "Menu" settings by using either of these programs.

True, but if you let that chapter play through to its end, you should then see "Title 2" begin.

As an alternative, either via the "Title" button on your remote (if it has one) or by going into the DVD player's "Display" or "Setup" screen, you should be able to find an option that allows you to select whichever TITLE you'd like to play...

By the way, DVD2One (commercial software competitor of DVD Shrink) has a simple bulitin "Title menu" for just such structures. It allows you to use the left and right arrow keys to switch amongst TITLES...

I am still looking for an easy solution to reauthoring titles/chapters from non shrunk decrypted IFO/VOB files on the hard disk. I don’t require menus. Transitions would be nice, but are not a necessity. I prefer not to convert the files to an intermediate format.

I tried a procedure using the VobEdit program which involves merely renaming and joining the VOB files. The “Next” button now works, but strangely the fast forward button causes my Sony Dream player to quit the play mode. I am using a newer TDK 12X burner and TDK 4X blanks and Copy2 DVD burning software. I am not writing or labeling the label side of the DVD. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

It would be gracious if you bothered to indicate if you even attempted any of the suggested solutions (and your results) proffered by "ormonde", "cynthia", and yours truly...

The VobEdit VOBID changing method should work fine, following which Create IFOs in IfoEdit will make it all one long DVD, with chapters intact and chapter skipping forward and backwards possible between titles.

As for your player quitting, that's not going to be the video's fault, particularly, if it plays OK at normal speed.
