i need advice in burning DVD

hi,
i have two avi files and i have to write it on a DVD+R so that it can be played by on a DVD player. i do know there are number of software like NERO and EASY. The problem is i don't know how to use it and i have already wasted one DVD. I am having NERO 6.3.0.2. i would be greatful to anyone who take thier time out and reply with a step by step procedure in writing into DVD.

Follow this procedure:

1. Convert the AVI (DivX or Xvid)/mpeg file(s) to a DVD compliant mpeg-2 file(s) using "TMPGEnc" or "TMPGEnc Plus". Use the DVD template (NTSC or PAL) form the "Project Wizard" to help you accomplish the task. If you have an mpeg file that is already DVD-compliant, then skip directly to step 2.

2. Then use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (different than "TMPGEnc") to author the newly created mpeg-2 into a DVD-related file structure (.IFO, .BUP, .VOB). As an alternative, you can use "DVDLab" to author as well.

3. If the combined filesize of the project exceeds 4.37 Gig, use "DVD Shrink" or similar transcoding program to compress.

4. Use "Nero" or similar burning program to burn onto a DVD (r, rw) disk

Someone else more knowlegable on Nero might answer you directly but can I suggest a popular alternative and quote Setarip? :

One set of procedures (other posters may/probably will suggest alternative methods) would be:

1) Use "TMPGEnc" (or "TMPGEncPlus") to convert the .AVI (DivX-compressed or otherwise) to compliant MPEG2-for-DVD format - Use "TMPGEnc's" DVD wizard/template to accomplish this

2) Use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (a different program than "TMPGEnc") to easily create the required additional DVD files and structure (and chapters and a menu, if you wish)


**If the combined filesize of the DVD "package" written to your hard drive is greater than 4.37Gb, use DVD Shrink (or similar) to compress


If your O/S is either Win2000 or WinXP, TMPGEnc DVD Author can also burn your DVD. Otherwise, use NERO to burn in "DVD-Video" mode
(As an alternative to "TMPGEnc DVD Author", you could use "DVDLab")

hi,
thanks for all ur reply, for the future AVI i will do as u guys advised..but for two of the AVI files( which i have deleted ) i have done the following
there are two avi files with name kk1.avi and kk2.avi.
1) i used WIN AVI to convert from AVI to DVD compliant file with extension IFO , BUP and VOB
2) for each of the two avi files
following files are created with same name but in different folder
a)VIDEO_TS.BUP
b)VIDEO_TS.IFO
c)VTS01_1.VOB
d)VTS01_2.vob
e)VTS_01_0.BUP
f)VTS_01_0.IFO
since the both folder contain the same name i am getting a usual error as file already exist.. i don't know how to go about this problem..is it ok if i just copy one version of BUP and IFO and rename VOB file and then burn it..and when i am writing in NERO it is showing two default folder AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS what file should go und AUDIO_TS.

Open it, click on the edit button and at the top of the screen you have delete. tick the box and press 'delete now'

i have used TMPGENC for one of the avi files to convert to mpeg-2 DVD compliant version thought the film is for 2 hrs 4 min the movie info in the 4th step of the project wizard show 4 hrs 8 min..twice of the actual time..what should i do to work around this problem

Just go ahead and output the AVI and test the resulting mpeg-2 in WMP or similar player.

when i went ahead saving the file in the mpeg-2 format there is no audio in the entire mpeg and after the 2hrs 4 min of the filme seccond 2 hrs 4 min doesn't have any image or video....once the wizard is closed before strarting to convert should i select ES(audio and video) or system (audio and video) because i did choose the system (audio & video) for the first one

Open the original AVI file(s) in "VirtualDubMod" ("File" > "Open Video File"). Then go to "File" > "File Information" and post everything that is listed in both the video and audio sections of the dialog box, or post a screenshot of the information.

i am sorry to be naive but the is "Virtual Dub Mode" comes along tiwh TEMPEnc software i don't how to get the information u asked for
