OK. I have successfully gotten the subtitles to work and the titles merged. So I followed that one guide by first making the DVD in DVD Author then making it in Nero Recode. You then use PgcEdit to copy the commands from the original VTST files to the Recode ones. You then overwrite all the VOB files except for Video_TS with the Recode ones.
I played the disc in Nero Media Player before burning to avoid wastig an expensive DVD+R DL disc. What happens it it plays fine with the subtitles and then when I hit Chapter Next at the last chapter it gives me an error like the content is missing or something and exits. The only one that actually goes back to the main menu is title 4, the last on the disc. I know the content is there, for in Play All mode it works flawlessly.
