Your set-top dvd player probblay cant read dvd-r media or you didn't decrypt it right, if it had any CCS protection, etc.

NO,I DON'T THINK..
I DECRYPT IT ALRIGHT WITH SMARTRIPPER FIRST !!

AND THE SPECIFIED HOME DVD CAN READ DVD-R CAUSE I TESTED WITH ANOTHER DVD-R AND WAS PLAYED OK !!

THE PROBLEM MUST BE WITH THE IFOEDIT !
MAYBE SOMETHING IS WRONG IN THE .IFO FILE...
BUT WHAT ?????

Did you use a different brand of DVD-R?

This might be basic, but did you burn the VIDEO_TS folder, rather than just the files in there? If the files are on the disk without the folder, your computer will play it, but not a home player.

Latest Nero version 5.5.8.x works fine and has a DVD Video selection for just this i.e. creates the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders and you just drag your vob's and ifo's etc like making a Video CD

What format options did you use?

I haven't used Prassi (it didn't come with my player) but Nero supports ISO, UDF and UDF+ISO

In my limited experience most standalone players require you to use either UDF or UDF+ISO whereas PCs don't care.

DVD Video new to Nero 5.5.8.0 it creates the required folders and all you do is drag your vob's etc into the VIDEO_TS folder and burn

I also find sticking to 1x burn on DVD-R as it seems to give the best compatabillity with stand alone players.

Nero 5.5.8.0 did not work at all on my machine. I reinstalled a couple of times with no luck.

It took a minute or two to scan the SCSI/IDE bus then either it bombed out with an error or it came up and couldn't see my Pioneer A04.

Fortunately de-installing and re-installing 5.5.7.2 worked OK.
