Making DVDs From MPEGS & MOVS

    Good evening,

Please don't yell at me for posting this here, but you guys have been awesome in answering all of my questions regarding dvd shrink and backing up my movies. I figured someone will take pity and help me out.

Can any one recommend a good, reliable, easy to use, and free program that will let me convert mpegs and movs to dvd format? Any points in the right direction would be awesome.

    Thanks,

    Zaara

    Hi Zaara

To convert Quicktime .mov file to DVD, you have to:

First, up-to-date free Quicktime 7 installed:

Second, you need a free program called RAD Video Tools to convert your .mov file to .avi file:

Last, use TMPGEnc Plus to convert .avi files to mpeg-2 file and TMPGEnc DVD author to author your mpeg-2 into DVD. These tools come will trial periods:
    pegasys,tmpgenc,tmpg,mpg,mpeg,encoder,tmpg,tmpgenc,te,tda,dsc

Or you could just use TMPGEnc with the Quicktime Reader plugin

AVS Video Converter is not free and costs around $30. However, I use this software and it works very nice. It will convert between most of the various formats and do exactly what you want.

Since it is already an mpeg, you should only need to convert to vob files.
I load my mpegs (from ppv)into dvd producer and make a movie with chapters from there. So look for an mpeg to vob files free program.
