    Convert DVD movie to AVI

    Hello,

I am new to encoding and video compression, etc. I would like to take my DVD movies, video on a DVD and then compress/save it to DVD Shrink as an avi file. After that it would on encode on Sorenson to output a .swf flash file.

Please help in walking me through DVD Shrink as to how to accomplish this.

    Thanks.

shrink isn't for this, magic dvd ripper is one option, isn't freeware but has a trial period.

Kinda late, but Dr. DivX is great as well (14-day trial) - the only issue is, in order to edit it, you have to fix the audio - the prog. uses VBR or something that is not compatible with most video editors, which vdub will detect and fix for you - just re-save the file.

i hate dr divx (and quite frankly i'm not sure he's been to medical school), but to each his own

i like 'gordian knot', which IMO gives best speed/quality when used with xvid
