the aim is to copy a dvdr which plays perfectly on my standalone dvd.using pioneer a03 and princo branded (both of which i have previously used to make a dvdr that plays on my dvd.as far as i can tell there is no copy protection, just 2 folders audio ts(which is empty) and video ts containing the following,
    video_ts bup
    video_ts ifo
    vts_01_0 bup
    vts_01_0 ifo
    vts_01_0 vob
    vts_01_1 vob
    vts_01_2 vob
    vts_01_3 vob
    vts_01_4 vob
have ripped it using dvd decrypt and wrote using primo dvd,but disk wont play(says bad disk). It must be possible to do this whilst retaining the menus etc. help help help!!!

"audio ts(which is empty) and video ts"

It couldn't possibly be that, as per above, you've misnamed the two directories, could it?

They should be "Audio_ts" and "Video_ts" (underscores between words)...

They do have an underscore but it was just a bit less messing about when I was typing the question

        I figured that such a simple "fix" was too good to be true (but you never know) ;>}

Nope, can't say that I have - unless, of course, you're trying to create INDIVIDUAL .VOBs greater than 4 Gigs each...

If the source is a DVD-R with the CSS and Macrovision already removed shouldn't you be able to just create a vide DVD in the software you use (I use nero) and then just copy the contents of the video folder into the video folder nero creates.

Thanks guys forall the advice, but I've sussed it,my dvd player was duff!,bought an xwave, and everything fine.copies are now perfect using the following method
I rip the vobs using Dvd Decrypter.
I use copy and paste to transfer the menus and chapters over to my new video_ts folder(I've found this is the most reliable method).
and finally burn using Primo Dvd at 1xspeed.
                    perfect copies everytime

Sure, works fine with single layer DVD

But what are you doing with the Dual Layer varieties......I've been stripping streams to get them down to size, but still having problems with a couple of them......Not much that I can really do about it, since I refuse to degrade the quality of the video in order to make everything fit on one DVD......just have to be careful with the originals I guess........anyone had any luck after pulling out all the audio streams and subtitles we don't need or want and still having size issues in making it fit?? if so, PLEASE let me know
