Fat 32 XP Need help ripping The Punisher

I saw something on here about how to crate a partition or something to that effect because my Fat 32 system will not accept whole files greater then 4 gigs. I can`t find this info when I do a search and I`m trying to Rip The Punisher movie to my HD with DVDD and then Shrink it and the ofcourse make my back up disc.

I`m not familiar with the Fat 32 system and would like some advice/help on how I can rip this disc and future ones of the same size

How to convert a FAT volume or a FAT32 volume to NTFS

***Note Although the chance of corruption or data loss during the conversion is minimal, we recommend that you perform a backup of the data on the volume that you want to convert before you start the conversion.***

To convert an existing FAT or FAT32 volume to NTFS, follow these steps:
      1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.

      2. At the command prompt, type the following, where drive letter is the drive that you want to convert:
      convert drive letter: /fs:ntfs
For example, type the following command to convert drive E to NTFS:
convert e: /fs:ntfs (Replace "e:" with the drive letter you are converting)
Note If the operating system is on the drive that you are converting, you will be prompted to schedule the task when you restart the computer because the conversion cannot be completed while the operating system is running. When you are prompted, click YES.

      3. When you receive the following message at the command prompt, type the volume label of the drive that you are converting, and then press ENTER:
The type of the file system is FAT.
Enter the current volume label for drive drive letter

      4. When the conversion to NTFS is complete, you receive the following error message at the command prompt:
      Conversion complete

      5. Quit the command prompt.

Tigerman thanks for the advice, but in the dialog box it says >4 Gigs when I open the disk. If I rip the disk to the HD even with this said, will it shrink it to 1 gig or will I have to do a conversion?

I am using DVDD because Arcoos prevents me from using shrink to copy the file. Becuase the file is greater then 4 gigs I heard that it will be a problem with my fat 32 system.

My goal here is to rip a DVD that is greater 4 gigs and protected with Arcoos to my HD where I can shrink it and ultimatley make a Back up DVD...

There is no need (if you don't want to do it) to convert your hard disk to NTFS format.

If your file will be bigger than 4Gb in size - DVD Decrypter will take care of that and split the .ISO file and do as Chewy suggested - use the file mode.

your ripping software by default cuts the dvd into 1024 mg (1 gig) file sizes. This is the recommended setting. ie if the main title is 4gb in size you will have 4 vob's each being 1024mg on your hard drive after the ripping proccess

Under the specs a VOB may not be as big as 1Gb. That's why they always come in at a max of 1,048,574 kb = 1 sector less than a Gb. This is because standalone players presumably only have a file system that accept filesizes this big.

Of course, players don't play big ISOs.

I just got done ripping Punisher R1 using DVD Decrypter in file mode to a FAT32 partition and it opened up in shrink fine. This DVD does not have ARccOS.
