Hmmm... How would I go about copying the button information? I will look there in the meantime.

Very weird. The only way I can figure out to export and import the menu buttons is under the "menu buttons" screen (CTRL+M) - which doesn't work due to that error in the NTSC one. If you see my original post, I have the IFO's for both, and the menus for both, so could you see if you could copy the menu buttons over?
PS - they are menushrinked. If you are able to do it with the menushrinked ones, I will need a way to put the buttons on the non-menushrinked ones.CYA Later:

In order to copy buttons, you need to post VOBs. Pop em on a server somewhere if they are small enough.

That is what happens when I try to copy the menu buttons. Why, and any suggestions?
Note that this error and the ones reported in your previous posts are probably caused by unsynchronized VOBs (ie the informations in the VOBs are not at the right place.) But this kind of error message should not occur. Instead, PgcEdit should display a more comprehensible error message.Comment

Well, I used Benbryant's method to convert the menu VOB from PAL to NTSC. So the framerate and size are different, but I am not sure why PgcEdit can't put buttons on it.

OK, I have fixed the problem in PgcEdit. However, it will not help you.
I haven't read this thread carefully, but there is obviously a big problem in your NTSC VOB file and/or in the corresponding IFO.
In the IFO, there are 70+ cells, with increasing VOB IDs, and Cell ID 1.
In the VOB, there are only 2 tiny cells, with V/C IDs 1/1 and 1/2.
In other words, the IFO is for a totally different VOB! It is not possible to use that VOB with that IFO, even after a mock strip.
I don't know the procedure you have used to transcode your DVD, but obviously there is a big problem somewhere.
I'm afraid you will have to transcode your DVD (or at least the menu) again. You must have the same number of cells in the new VOB, and you must copy the new IFO with the new VOB. (As a rule, you should always use the IFO and VOBs together. Don't copy a VOB w/o the IFO or vice versa!)
[EDIT:] You have an original DVD in PAL. Why do you want to degrade it in NTSC? You will loose quality, and the NTSC standard is verry bad in comparison to PAL! IMO, if you are lucky enough to have a PAL compatible TV and player, you should use PAL, and even transcode NTSC to PAL!Last edited by r0lZ; 26 Dec 2005, 04:15 PM.Comment

r0lZ, I live in the USA. This is the only PAL DVD I have. It only plays on my PC, because I have an NTSC DVD player and TV. As far as re-transcoding it goes, how do I do that keeping the VOB and IFO's together? Should I take the menu IFO, delete it and use IfoEdit to make new IFO's? I know how to use some commands in PgcEdit, but I am not that skilled at it. If you would be so kind as to give me a step-by-step guide as to how to do that, it would be appreciated.CYA Later:

Well, I really don't know. I don't use the transcoding methods myself. But I know that these methods are difficult to use on a menu.
You missed something important when you did the menu. If you reencode the menu, you should end up with a VOB file with exactly the same structure (ie the same number of VOB IDs, and preferabily with the same VOB/Cell IDs.) Then, you may have to use IfoUpdate or a similar program to modify the original IFO so that it will match the new VOB. As you know now, an IfoEdit Mock Strip can help resynchronize the VOB and the IFO, but in your case that cannot be done, since the structure of the VOB is totally different.
So, as I said in my previous post, you need to transcode the menu again, keeping the same structure. This is where I can't help, because there are many different methods to do that, and I don't know them.
PgcEdit cannot help you much, because it assumes that the DVD is correctly authored. If you can load the DVD w/o unsynchronized VOBs warnings, then you can continue with PgcEdit to import the buttons.
However, you can use the Info -> Menu Buttons Command to see what is in your VOB. You should have the same number of cells in the original and the reauthored DVD.
Good luck!Comment

Hmmm. I used benbryant's method of converting which leaves an MPG file. I used TMPGEnc DVD Author to create the VOB, which is probably what caused the error. I will look into other transcoding programs. The only methods I know totally re-encode the VOB, so that it is almost impossible for it to have the same structure. I will look into it though.CYA Later:

Here's the easy way - buy a multifunction player. They are cheap (some for as low as US$40, so I am told). Since it is still the season to be jolly, mum and dad ought still to be in a good mood.

See, the thing is, I want the disc to be playable on anyone's player, not just mine. I have a multifunction player - just found out that it does on-the-fly conversion. I want to make the disc physically NTSC, though.CYA Later:

Well, your titles work don't they? It's just the menus? Make your own menus. DL DVD Styler. You can then substitute your real menu backgrounds.
