Help with a long DVD, please!

Hi all,
firstly i have tried to read through the wealth of info here but have either missed the answer i need or its not here.
My problem is this i have a long movie which i have converted to dvd using AVS Video converter 4. This has converted fine.
My problem is that when converted the files are split into two folders, one which is approx 8 gb the other 3 gb. This then splits my home movie.
In each of the two folders the file numbers are the same, so i tried to change the second smaller file to corresponding numbers. This did not work unfortunately as the now dvd would not play ion order. Is there a programme i can use to conect the two segments together?
Once i have the larger complete file i will be able to shrink it to a dl disc. and from there with dvd shrink.

you can do it via dvdshrink if you wanted to

1.
set shrink to dvd9 (edit => preferences => preferences)


2.
load the first dvd, use re-author mode and drag&drop the main movie (from the right hand side) to the left


3.
then use the dvd-browser on the right hand side to search for your second dvd and again drag and drop the main movie to the left


4.
compress

Or re-encode it at a lower bit rate to begin with.

When you drag & drop the second file Shrink changes the numbering automatically.It just tacks a 2 on the end of each one.Join them with Shrink but don't forget to change your settings because that is 11GB and then I would use burn dual layer discs safely in blutach's signature.

update on problem

thanks so far,
the other problem that i didnt mention is that i have converted this to dvd as its 11gb it has split to 7.5 and 3.5. because it is a home made movie for some reason dvd shrink cant open it due to a navigation error. any ideas?
