Please DVD-R Help!!!!

I am creating dvd movies using my Pioneer 104 and spruceUp 1.1.
When i burn a movie to DVD-RW to test it on my standalone player ( yelo 800DVD ) it plays fine, but when i burn to DVD-R my standalone player does not play the Disc?
The only difference i can see between the two is that the DVD-RW has a Silver bottom and the DVD-R has a Purple bottom. Would this make a difference???

Most standalone players are very finicky regarding which brands of burnable media they'll recognize (if any).

Thanks for the help. Checked the site and my player is DVD-R and DVD-RW compatible. Will have to try a different brand of DVD-R.
