Converting problems

Hi guys,
I.m a noob at this, so please bare with me. I'm sorry in advance to bug you guys with this, I read previous posts but I still can't get it to work. I bought my wife a Sony handycam DCR-DVD92 and it records in .VDO format. I want to be able to play them on regular DVD players but can't. They work fine on PC using Power DVD. I guess I have to use 1 program to convert it, then another to edit it, then another to burn it? I downloaded TMPGE as previously stated in the fourms, but it says cannot open file or does not support it. Thanks in advance guys.

I don't own the Sony handycam DCR-DVD92. But from the in formation I've read about this DVD camcorder in Sony site, you should be able to play on most DVD players without re-encoding or converting. You might have have recoded with DVD+/-RW which your DVD player doesn't accept or need finalizing the DVD

Ok, I gotcha. But since it is made on a mini disk, I want to try and store a few things on regular sized DVD. The mini only last 1/2 hour. So say I wanted to make a DVD with a bunch of the kid's events. It won't allow to to burn it onto a regular DVD, because it does not recognize the .VDO format the cam stores it in.

Can you rip it to your PC with DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink and then use DVD Shrink compilation method to combine serveral mini DVDs into 1 standatd DVD?

No luck, I have DVD shrink 3.2 and it says it cannot open that file.

I just tried 'VSO divxToDVD' from the following link to convert a bunch of .mov files to DVD, worked great and it's just one program, not like the others that you gotta process thru 3 or4 programs.

I don't have .vdo files but you could try and see if 'divxToDVD' could convert those files. If not just delete it, no worries.

That did it Mikey! Thanks bud! Now is it possible to edit them before I burn it to cut out some bad scenes?
