    chopping down an mpeg

I have a 1 gb mpeg2 that I want to get the first 20mbs from. Tried vob splitter but can't get it to work - maybe 'cause I have an mpeg2 not a vob?

Anyway, what's the best way to do this - easiest? The purpose of this is a crash problem in the new Dr. Divx. I can do it with Video Redo, but the problem is, running it through video redo seems to fix it - i.e. it won't crash - so that doesn't help recreate the problem.

    Hi loopyloops,

.vob files are .mpg files (MPEG-2 for DVD) with different file extensions. You can change from .mpg to .vob and vice versa just by rename their file extension.

Good to know - thanks!!! Will give that a try - but what about a tool to take 20mbs from a 1gb file?

TMPGEnc(MPEG tools/Merge and cut) or Video Redo Plus or MPEG Video Wizard.

For whatever reason, video redo fixes what's making Dr. Divx crash - so that won't work.

I'll try the others - thanks!

Besides anonymez's cuttermaran, you can try a free but nice to have tool called "Chopper XP" which can open the .vob file and save any part of that video clip

Download Chopper, a tool allowing you to chop MPG, VCDs and VOB files
