Two questions about MPEG audio-video sync

    Hello everyone,

I'm looking for the name of tools or applications (whatever the price) for 2 specific tasks.

    1. I'd like to extract the audio from a MPEG2 file (in ac3, wav, mp3, whatever). I tried with tools such as TMPGenc, Nandub, VirtualDubMod, etc. and I didn't succeed in doing it.

    2. I'd like to take this audio file, and synchronize it with another video file (from a better quality), already in a xvid format (.avi).

Thanks in advance for your support

demux the mpeg2 file's audio with tmpgenc's mpeg tools

if the avi file has audio already, demux the video and put it in a new folder. place the audio you demuxed from the mpeg2 file into that same folder. make sure the names are the same, eg video.avi and video.ac3. open the avi file with media player classic, it should load the audio and you should hear sound. go through the options, find 'audio switcher', and play around with the "delay" setting. keep increasing/decreasing till you find the right amount.

mux the avi video and audio (encode audio if needed) with virtualdubmod, and add the correct delay value
