    AVI Editing Program?

I am looking for an AVI Edit pgm. that is *free*, & easy to use! What I need is something that I can cut, edit files, fade to black, etc. I have Nero Vision Express (Came w/ burner), & it seems to be "buggy", i.e. hangs a lot, etc.

I was trying AVI Synth, & some others, but this noob needs a GUI interface pgm.!

    Any suggestions?
    Thanx!

Virtualdub can do most of that. Not sure about the fading in/out, but there may be a filter which can.

      Tried VirtualDub...

Thanks for the suggestion; I have used VirtualDub a bit; it does work, however, as you mentioned, it will not "fade to black" or other transitions; I could look thru the filters on the site...

I was kinda looking for an "all-in-one pgm. that will do teh whole process easily w/o a lot of extra work/dwnloads, etc.

My Nero Vision Express will do the editing, but as I mentioned, it seems to hang & "crash" my system if I'm not careful...

      I will keep looking...

For a simple Fade In and Out from and to black, you can add the AviSynth script like this example:

        AviSource("D:\My Videos.avi")
        FadeIn(30)
        FadeOut(30)

Where 30 is number of frames

        Regards

Still looking for a "fade to black/push button" editing program. I had put this project on the back burner for awhile, but now I dug it out again.

Any ideas on an easy to use, *free* program that will do this & other transitions as well?

          thanks, katz

thanks for the link, paglamon. I looked at the plugin, & I believe at this point I need to spend some $$$. I guess I am in need of a more powerful vid. editor, that will do more in-depth transitions, etc.

It is a neat little plugin, though. It would be useful for simple editing.

              cheers, katz
