    Editing Compressed Files?

Is there a way to edit compressed video files (divx, mpeg, etc) and preserve the most of the original quality?

unless by editing you mean splitting, which can be done losslessly, technically there is always quality loss when encoding to a lossy format. whether it's noticeable or not depends on the codec, bitrate & settings
