Movie Only Disc, Features Only Disc & Multi Movie Disc

    HI

I know these maybe stupid questions to most members here but I'm gonna go head-on with them anyway.

There are 3 types of DVD copy / remake I wanna do:
    A. MOVIE ONLY DISC plus relevant bonus features DIRECTLY RELATED to the movie
    - "DIRECTLY RELATED to the movie" means only useful when playing the movie thus I want to keep these
    - These include AUDIO COMMENTARY/IES for the movie, Pop-Up trivia tracks, branching, etc (you get the point!)
    - After excluding NON related stuff (to be done on a separate disc), I need to alter FEATURES menu page in accordance to this

    B. BONUS FEATURES ONLY DISC (movie disc to be done separately)
    - I want to remove the BACK TO MAIN MENU link(& PLAY MOVIE link if it's there) & alter the FEATURES menu page in accordance to this
    - I want to remove some Non-English audio streams & alter the LANGUAGE/SET-UP menu page in accordance to this
    - I want to remove some Non-English subtitles streams & alter the LANGUAGE/SET-UP menu page in accordance to this

    C. MULTI-MOVIE DISC e.g. 2-in-1, 3-in-1, etc
    - When played, the default main menu should give me a choice of the films on the disc
    - Only 1 English audio stream per movie
    - I need to reduce the audio stream from the original 5.1 to 2.0 to free-up DVD disc space
    - Only 2 subtitle streams per movie + Subtitle Off option
    - I assume it's a similar procedure to squeeze 2-disc sets into one disc, right?
    - Other than default MAIN MENU showing the movies on the disc, I intend to put a scene selection menu for each movie

NOTE: Some of my DVDs to be used for the above are CSS/RCE protected.

So which software do I need to do the above other than DVDREMAKE? I have NERO 7 / VISION EXPRESS 4 for DVD burning .. if there is a better buring application, let me know!

As for A + B, I intend to use separate DVD5s as Blank Double Layer discs are expensive (to me at least!) in my home country.

    CHEERS!

A & B can be done easily with a combination of freeware - PgcEdit and VobBlanker. See the various sites for guides on blanking, stream removal and altering menus.

I know you specified otherwise, but the easiest for C is DVD Remake Pro, which although not free, can do what you want in just a few clicks.

To rip your CSS disks to your hard drive you can use RipIt4Me (free).

Best burning app is ImgBurn - free.

      Hi

      Thanks 4 da response!

      A few more Questionss:
      - If I use PGCEDIT & VOBBLANKER for A + B, does this mean I don't need DVDREMAKE (PRO) for A+B?

      - Do I need some sorta ART/GRAPHIC ARTS software to alter the MENUS? I got PAINTSHOP PRO if that's any good!

      - Are the software you mentioned as easy-to-learn/use like building a website? Stupid question .. I know!

      - Also, what about other software like MENUEDIT, IFOEDIT, DVDSHRINK, MENUSHRINK, etc. Do I need these or any other?

      - For C, what software do I need to replace the 5.1 audio with 2.0? Most of the DVDs I got don't have 2.0 for the movie (except commentaries).

      - If the DVDs are NOT CSS/RCE protected, I can just copy and paste the VIDEO + AUDIO folder from the DVD to my HDD, right? Do I need to copy the AUDIO folder as it's empty?

        1. Yes.
        2. No, all you need is to modify the unused buttons. PgcEdit's button editor is a breeze - also read the help file. Essentially, you need to make the unused buttons "hidden".
        3. I think so, though they are comprehensive and not for idiots.
        4. MenuEdit is superseded by PgcEdit's menu editor and DVD Remake Pro. IfoEdit is unnecessary for what you want. MenuShrink shrinks menus to stills.
        5. Transcode the audio with BeSweet with the BeLite GUI. It takes VOB inputs. See the FAQ Index for this. Why would you wanna replace the 5.1?
        6. Yes, copy & paste is fine for unprotected DVDs. AUDIO_TS is required on the final burned DVD. Most burning apps - even Ner0 - are smart enough to insert it.

Multi Movie Discs .. still need more info!

          HI BLUTACH

I’m trying to do "MULTI-MOVIE DISC" but using either DVDSHRINK or NERO RECODE. I noticed that you did a guide on ‘Adding Back Original Menus to a DVD Shrink and Nero Recode Re-authored DVD’ on JSOTO’s website.

I was thinking of doing a MULTI-MOVIE squeeze first with either of these 2 software with 1 audio track + 2 (or less) subtitle tracks for each movie with scene selection menu BUT with no Set-up/Languages menu. By doing this I know I’ll lose the menus for the moment, so does this guide of yours apply to Adding Back Original Menus when making a MULTI-MOVIE disc? I think your guide is referring to just one movie minus the extras.

Here's what I had in mind for "MULTI-MOVIE DISC":

FIRST (default) MENU when disc is played (showing the choice of movies)
          / | \
Movie 1 Scenes Menu Movie 2 Scenes Menu Movie 3 Scenes Menu

If I should use DVD Remake Pro, do I shrink the movies first or edit each movie with DVD Remake Pro first?

I tried to use DVDREMAKE PRO v3.4 but it keeps DISSAPPEARING (I think you call it CRASHING!?!?) when I click of certain parts of the DVD TREE. Same happens with v3.5.

If it doesn’t crash, when I Test Export or Export DVD, the first thing that plays is the first movie. When I press menu button, no menus (main or sub-menus)!

And can anybody PINPOINT a website shows me how to change a movie's audio from 5.1 to 2.0 from a DVD with BESWEET?

The other option is to use PGCEDIT & VOBLANKER to EDIT, then use DRM PRO to MERGE .. assuming it doesn’t crash again! Finally, DVD SHRINK IT!

Some more questions about using DVDREMAKE PRO and PGCEDIT with VOBLANKER on [PURPOSE - to save as much DISCSPACE as possible]:

          1. Can you tell me how to make the 1st page of Scene Selection become the DEFAULT menu page when a disc is played?

At the moment, DRM PRO'S VIDEO MANAGER – First Play says:
Jump to VMG “title” menu [under Pre-Command tab]

When I right-click the 1st page of scene selection, there’s an option to:
          goto PGC (en : PGC3 : c3)

At the moment, PGCEDIT'S VMG First Play PGC says:
1 (JumpSS) Jump to VMGM Title menu [under pre commands]

When I click the VTSM with the 1st page of scene selection, it says:
1 LinkPGCN PGC 3 [under post commands]

          2. How do you edit the first few seconds (or even half a minute) and end credits of the movie with DRM PRO and PGCEDIT/VOBLANKER? I want to chop off the early rubbish like Studio Logo. I know how to do this in DVDSHRINK Re-Author Mode.

I mentioned before that DVD REMAKE PRO keeps disappearing when I click on certain parts of the DVD TREE. Well those parts are usually PGCs in MENU EN (main movie plus other parts of the DVD TREE). I dunno why! This is kinda annoying as I wanna edit the menus. I tried the goto PGC (en : PGC3 : c3) [mentioned above] but this makes the software disappear/close!

I only managed to HIDE/DISABLED the audio / subtitle tracks that I don’t want plus the FBI warnings & some extras. That’s about it.

          3. How do I link Main Menu option/button/function on each Scene Selection page to the FIRST (default) MENU in DRM PRO?

I've seen some guides on PGCEDIT by you (BLUTACH), 2COOL and JEANL among others but I don't know which will save DISCSPACE. I think JEANL said on hers how to skip/jump but not remove/hide stuff.
