First play audio how ?

I have V vendetta.
The disc as english and french audio.
By default it plays french and you select english from language selection menu.
If I rip film to hd with clone dvd and remove french audio,the film plays with no audio you still have to select english from language menu.
Is there a way to have it play english straight from begining by default.
I thought I would be able to do this with IFo edit but have not been able to.
Any help would be great.

can't help with clone, but can with setting default streams if you use dvd shrink (which should be all you need to do this movie)

have you tried shrink and setting the default streams?

Here's the way. Open the rip in PgcEdit. Use the Jump to PGC function to jump, first to the audio menu, selecting English and then back to the main menu.

NEVER tick logical remapping of enabled streams! See very detailed analysis in my signature.

There are some limited circumstances where you can, but you must check with the DVD Shrink plugin in PgcEdit first.

Thx for your help I have done as quoted.
I think there was a bit of luck involved as I couldnt figure out how to get the preview working properly.
Anyways I got there in the end.
The film now starts at the language/subtitle menu then after selections made goes onto main menu.
Shrink would not allow me to set default streams it was'nt highlighted in menu.
Was that me doing something wrong?

You can set the default audio/subpic streams in Shrink only in reauthor mode. Shrink cannot analyse the original authoring to modify it.

So I guess in answer to my very first question.
This can not be done.
For example keep the entire dvd "allready ripped by whom ever" and make it play with the audio stream of my choice obviously different from the default one (without using any language menu).
Just from selecting play movie from main menu.

No, it's always possible to do it. But unless the authoring is redone from scratch (like in Shrink's reauthor mode) it is necessary to analyse the authoring to understand where and how the streams are initialized, and to change that part of the code. It's too complex for a one-click application like DVD Shrink.
A quick and easy way to do it is blutach's suggestion of using the Jump to PGC function in PgcEdit, but you can also try to understand the authoring with the trace, and modify the code manually. That requires a good understanding of the DVD structure and of the VM commands. Good luck!

Hiya
I did blutachs guide and it worked the film now starts with the language menu.
Allthough I don't think I got the trace to work correctly ( or maybe I just did'nt understand what I was looking at)
I will have a look at some of the other rips I have from the past which have menu/audio issues and see if I can correct them and learn something along the way.
