    Making a DVD Menu

First off, hello, Im new here and I dont know much about dvd authoring besides the basic stuff you can do with nero.

Now, I wanna put 2 movies on 1 dvd with 1 menu that has some submenus. For the menu, I want to play this short intro video before anything else and I don't want any buttons or anything covering the intro. Then once the intro is done, or skipped, there should be a menu where you can choose which movie you wanna watch. Then, if possible, i want a submenu where I can choose to watch the entire movie, or go to the chapter selection. For one of the movies, i also want a option to play edited scenes along with the options of playing the movie or going to chapter selection.

I have Nero 7, but I can get Nero 6.6.

What other programs do I need in order to do this?

shrink both to iso then use Nero vision4 ( in 7) then combine them, you can just use simple menu and then you have the sub menu in each of your movie

      Hi NightTran,

I have Nero 7 Ultra, and running Windows XP Prof. ... but I have not dared to upgrade my Nero 6.6.14 to my Nero 7 since I have been reading a lot of bad posts on 7 crashing and so forth.

Anyway, my Q for you ... what you suggested above DVDS to ISO and then use NV4 ... how long does it take to make the MENU and final DVD product?

Because I just tried using my Nero Vision Express 3 (included in my Nero 6.6.14) and it was going to take almost 2 hours to make the whole DVD ... which is made of 3 dvd's each about 1.45G ... so my dvd would still be a DVD-5 compliant without any shrinking.

Also, another Q ... will NV4 take Movie folders also vs. ISO?

      Thanks!
      G!

You can do all these and much more with DVD Lab pro with ease (although there is always a small learning curve associated with any software). But I was able to master it within a few days itself.

          Hey Techreactor,

Does DVD LAb Pro have a "FREE" Trial Period or anything like that?

          Thanks!

                Hi Xistenz,

                Q1: Which verion of TMPGenc?
Q2: Why do you prefer that over DVDLab?
Q3: And is there a FREE one?

                Thanks!

                    Hi gonwk

Tmpgenc DVD author 1.6 is the one i am currently using. IMO its easier to use,
there is a 30 days trial version.

I used to have Nero 7 Premium and I got rid of it for Nero has a lot of complicated features and it does take long to encode/recode.

                        Hello guys
I have the same issue about a year now that I have Sony dvdcam (403). I want to merge 3 8cm dvds to one 12 cm. I did some with dvdshrink but the problem is that you have to make a disk without menus. So the problem is how do we keep or join the menus (the camera creates menus for each small dvd).
I made one disk with Nerovision but it seems that the program did some encoding and ruined the picture quality. So we need something that does no touch the vobs.
DVD Remake Pro I think is said to do this job but for now I must stick to only freeware for several reasons.
                        If you have some ideas....
                        Thanks a lot.......

As you metioned, DVD Remake Pro does this easily in about 1 click. It is well worth the $$$.

I use it for my handycam "joins".

You can import menus with PgcEdit and write your own Video manager and top menu with a generic menu VOB. Also, consider titlewriter.

                          Regards
                          Les

I have Nero 6 (6.6.0.18) and Nero Vision Express allows me to do this with relative ease. I have joined mini dvds for a friend approx 1.4G each and encoding takes about 40 min. If you auto create chapter points, that takes forever.
