Movie Factory Menu Problem

I'm a newbie - having burned only one DVD. That one was fine.

Have created my MPEG file in TMPGEnc. Filesize is about 3.5gig. Movie is about 90 minutes. Created about 20 "scenes" using Ulead DVD Movie Factory. The thumbnails look fine. The DVD plays fine. EXCEPT when I chose a scene from the menu, I jump to the wrong place. It seems like I'm jumping to a point about 30 seconds before the entry point that I selected.

1) One idea is that you selected the scenes then edited the thumbnail that is displayed for each scene.

You are correct. I did that for a couple of scenes. Is this a "no-no"?

Just replied to your private note to me then had another idea. (a long shot).
When you run the scene selecting part of Movie Factory, you can enable the 'locate scene frames' check box (this I THINK makes the program select the nearest full data rame but 30 seconds suggests this is a VERY long shot or if you read it literaly it could be interpereted as looking for a scene change!!). I leave mine checked and have not encountered any problems....

Back Again. I tried recreating the disk, but this time without changing the thumbnails. I still had the same problem. Each scene got successively out of synch with the menu. By the last (22nd) scene, the entry point when clicking on the menu was a full minute earlier than the actual starting point.

Most strange, I have never done one with more than 15 scenes but I had no problems?

How about taking a long route around the problem, go back to your PRE-TMPGEnc file and encode it with MOVIE Factory instead of TMPGEnc ( ) then try to create the scenes.

Q) when using movie factory do you test the scenes before burning?

Q)if yes do you still have the same problem?

Good idea - I was going to try that anyway (capture/encode all in Ulead).

I haven't tried testing the pre-burn yet. Will do.

I've sent in this problem to Ulead and they haven't come up with anything.

I tested last night (pre-burn) and the scenes work properly. When I clicked on a scene, I jumped to the correct place in the movie. So it is only the DVD disk that displays the problem.

I re-encoded MPEG using ULEAD last night. I'll re-burn in the next day or so and will report.

Sorry for late response, just got back from mainland Europe. I forgot to ask if you are running the DVD on the PC and if so which Player are you using, and if you have had the chance to test it on a standalone or someone else's system, again only ideas to elimenate all other options (like Sherlock Holmes eh?)

I have run this with the same results on my standalone DVD player (a Pioneer), and on my PC with both Windows Media Player (version 7 I believe) and Power DVD.

Well I dont have any other ideas for you. It might be worth closing this thread and posting a new one to try and get some more replies/responce . Sorry.....
