    rempeg 2

    hi,
I try to transcode a dvd with rempeg 2 at 90%.
the result after 10 hours was jerky, flipping and worst than a vcd.

    the options i used is:

    scale factor 90%
    bit allocation adj = default
    output resolution 720x480
    frame mode= match source
    search techn=prediction

can someone please tell me what i am doing wrong.

    thanks

I'm afraid i've had the same problem.

It only does it with certain dvds though. The dvds i've backed up (those where the movie itself is over 4.5gigish) i've had mixed results.

I'd say 3 out of 8 in total i've had to bin after transcoding with rempeg because of jerkiness etc etc like you describe.

Others however come out fine which is frustrating.....if u read the readme file that comes with the rempeg download even the author himself says its a bit of trial and error.

Totally understand your anger m8...10 hours of pc work for nothing

The only thing left is to create a svcd out of it..after all a svcd is pretty good quality.

In fact while we are on the subject......does anyone know how to burn a svcd file (which would be about 3-4 gig onto a dvdr?

All the dvd burning progs i've got when you try to set up a svcd template default automatically to a cd and load in a 700mb limit.

You try and put your svcd file in and it obviously comes back to large to fit 'cos it thinks you are trying to put it on a cdr and not a dvdr!!

Same problem with ReMpeg Locking up on certain movies

My ReMPEG locks up on Blue Crush at 99% and Reign of Fire at 100%. I sent an email to the hotmail account about it.

I have the same problem on two of the movie that Re-encoded.
"A walk to remember" and "The gift" A walk to remember came out worst than the gift.

I used "Perdiction" & Prgessive only mode. It only took me 5 hours to do it compare to 15 hours when I set it to Full search mode.
I even try to adjust bit allocation mode it's still come out the same.

I wonder if there's a bug in the software.

Generally speaking, you can obtain better and consistent quality utlizing TMPGEnc/TMPGEnc Plus or CCE (much faster and better quality than TMPGEnc but also substantially more expensive).
