Adding a menu

OK, I kinda abandoned this project and just remembered it.

I successfully changed a PAL video that was widescreen into NTSC, and put it with the original NTSC menus. The disc works fine after changing the domain streams attributes to 16:9.

However, the chapters are off. Blutach suggested before, to overwrite VTS_01_1.IFO and re-add the menus.

I did that, however, there is also a title 2 in there that I can't replicate, and without it the DVD crashes.

What should I do? Try editing chapters some other way, or can I remake a title 2 and copy the VOB?

What's in title 2? How is it called? You may be able to get round it entirely.

I am not sure, it appears to be only one second long.

However, when I replaced the VTS_01_1.IFO with the correct one (that had good chapter data), I then imported the menus, and copied the commands etc.

Then when I opened the DVD it just turned black, and never even loaded the menu.

If I made a ZIP of the IFOs and the title 1 menu, could you do a switcheroo for me?

OK IFOs attached, unfortunately VTS_01_0 is like 115MB so I couldn't post it, but maybe you could tell me what to do with that?

The new title 1 has no VTS_01_1 at all essentially. Not sure why.
There is also no menu buttons. I used DVD Shrink Re-Author to get the final result, so it makes sense.

If you have used re-author, how did the structure end up looking like the pic in post 1?

blutach, that's the original DVD.

Here's what I did, I took the PAL title that was widescreen, and slowed it down to NTSC. (it had PAL speedup).
I then used the NTSC audio and subtitle tracks, used CellTimes.txt and muxed in MuxMan.

I then ran it through DVD Shrink re-author, to get one VOB instead of many. I then overwrote VTS_01_1.VOB to VTS_01_1 of the original.


Menushrink file is li9ke 2.5MB, so I put it on sendspace.

Overwriting will just not do, Danny. You don't change important info in the IFOs that way.

You need to replace the title in VobBlanker (no need for a huge single VOB either).

I presume you are OK in replacing titles with VobBlanker. My guide on saving heaps of megabytes shows you how, anyway.

I have no knowledge whatsoever in VobBlanker.

Overwriting worked fine, except for that chapter data. Wil VOBBlanker fix that?

Overwriting will not work fine, believe me. Follow the guide. Take blue pill.

And LOL you're lucky I saw The Matrix, or I would have no idea what that meant. (that's the only R-rated movie I have seen due to my parents)

It will more difficult to keep the structure intact. Title 2 is PAL - so it needs bypassing. And the rest of the titlesets are PAL. And I'm not sure the chapter pointers may not mess up.

A re-author in PgcEdit might be the best way. Imprting titles and menus.

No, the menus and extras are NTSC.

Perhaps I didn't make this clear, I have both the PAL and NTSC versions of the same movie. Both are identical in DVD structure, except that NTSC is pan-and-scan and PAL is widescreen.

And I used assumefps, and remuxed with the NTSC audio so the frames are exactly the same. If you open the converted-to-NTSC widescreen and the native NTSC fullscreen ones in VDub, any given frame number is the same on both.

OK, real good. The take your remastered NTSC version and replace title 1 in VobBlanker, as described previously.

Perform a replace title as described in step 8 here.
