Want to add Menu B4 credits for Alt Ending

Ok. I have a DVD that has an alternate ending. The prob is, it's on the other side of the DVD. I had to burn 2 identical movies to see the alternate ending.

I want take the ending off one side and add it to the original so I only have one disk. And I want a Menu at the end of the original just before the credits to give the option to watch the alt ending.

What I've done so far... I used VobBlanker to extract the last 3 cells. This created one VOB. I used Nero Vision to add IFO's and make it a small movie.

In PgcEdit I imported intro clip to title 5, making title 6 the alt ending. Title 5 is never called on so I can clear out all the jumps PgcEdit added and call it from the menu I want to add to the end of the movie, B4 the credits...



Then I tried adding a cell B4 the credits cell for my Options Menu. This is where I got stuck.

I've probably made a big mess outta something simple.

What you want is non-trivial, but to get the movie to play as you like, you should make a closing clip to the main movie (title 1) with PgcEdit, not an intro clip to an uncalled title.

Then insert an intermediate step to a self created menu. I suggest you use a simple 2 button menu from say the Titlewriter collection. This will need to be imported as a menu somewhere - easiest is in a new VTS - eg VTSM 2. Finally, the menu buttons will need to be programmed to go to the relevant PGCs - Play the alternate ending ---> TTN 1 in VTS 2. Don't play it ---> VMGM 5.

I cleaned up all the intro crap...



I also added a new button in PgcEdit to call the alt ending from the VTSM 1 Root. (Had to position it with DVDRMP tho cause there was no Y position slider in PgcEdit). Even lucked out and there was some text about the alt ending on the background to place my button over...



As well as all this sounds, it's still not what I want. I know it would be simple to watch the movie and at the end push the Menu Button on the remote, then choose the alt ending.

I want to play the full movie, including the theatrical ending, but then just before the credits start, a Menu pops up giving the option to just finish with the credits or click the option to see the alt ending (Title 5)which also includes the credits)).



I'm sure this would mean making a call outside the movie VTS Title1 before it plays the last cell (credits). I don't know if this is even possible, but I'm guessing it is.

I presume chapter 25 is the credits and just the credits, yes?

And can I see the original IFOs please. VTSM 1, 2 is a bit of a dog's breakfast.

You seem to have deleted the scene selection, special features and language selection menus mate. Is this intended?

Anyways, use the attached IFOs and Menu VOB (you'll need to do a Get VTS Sectors - a save in PgcEdit will do the trick).

The movie will return to the menu just before the credits. Now, I'm not 100% sure, but pressing button 1 (play movie) should resume and play the credits. Pressing the "shocking ending" button (which is now accessible) will play the ending (including the credits I guess) and return you to the menu.

You have not authored a highlights layer in your Shocking ending menu button. So, it will not display. But it does work.

Yeah, I usually delete the scene selection, special features and language selection menus unless there's something in "special features" I want to keep.

Anyway. Close but no cigar blu. I'm assuming you wanted me to replace the files in my working folder with the ones you sent. I did. And I got the VTS Sectors fixed (Did it with IfoEdit to be sure).

The movie does go to the menu just before the credits.

But when I push the "play movie" button it doesn't go on with the credits, it starts the movie from the beginning.

And when I push the Shocking ending button, nothing happens. The player just stalls. I normally use Nero Showtime to test with but I also tried WMP. Same in both.

Gotta try some more tonight. My puter time is up for the day.

Ha! I thought it might since the resume might not work (the title is deemed to be over, even though there is an additional cell). See attached new IFOs and menu VOB.

What happens now is when the movie ends it goes to the menu before the credits. Pressing play movie will play the credits - for sure! Pressing play movie again will restart the movie (but you're not gunna want to do that I don't think). Pressing Shocking Ending will play it.

The shocking ending absolutely is correct. Trace it in PgcEdit if you don't believe me. Obviously, only press that button after the movie returns to the menu. The trouble might be you can't see the button. You get there from the play movie button by pressing either the right key or down key. Do make sure you got the VOB for VTS 2 in your folder

I woulda preferred it if you added the shocking ending to VTS 1, so we could have done some seamless branching and/or play all. But it is what it is and it should work now.

Well, When you push the Play Movie button now, the credits play.

Two down and one to go.

When I push Shocking ending, still nothing happens. In PgcEdit Trace, it just goes back to the menu. In my players, it does nothing.

I did a Trace Step and it says it's playing, but it's not...



Would the other way...

I woulda preferred it if you added the shocking ending to VTS 1, so we could have done some seamless branching and/or play all.

have been easier? And if so is it too late to go that route? As far as being a lot of trouble for you.

Guess I need to learn how to edit IFO's, huh.

As your highlighted section shows, the authoring is now correct. Check your VOB.

Ah, that's the problem. Somehow the Shocking ending VOB disappeared or was overwritten. I still have it in another folder, but it has the same filename as the beginning of the movie (VTS_01_1.VOB).

Can I rename it? Or do I have start over?

Rename it to VTS_02_1.VOB Look inside it in VobEdit and make sure its VCIDs match the IFO (1/1).

Otherwise you'll need to mockstrip VTS 2 or use VIDChanger to change the VIDs to 1/1. You should be safe though.

Don't forget to do a save in PgcEdit to get the sectors right

One more teeny thing...

If I want to use a menu I created instead, can I add a new PGC in VTS1 and call it from wherever you called the Main Menu from?
