I would like to find an easy way or program to rip only the *.srt file from a dvd to be able to edit and then re-use the file. I need only to learn how to extract ONLY the subtitle file.

A DVD does not contain .srt subbtitle. However you can rip the subtitle from a DVD and save it as .srt. SUBRIP is very good at it.
Another excellent tool is DVDSubedit.sigpic

I tried with 1.20, 1.40 and 1.50, but they all show the same. I even have full CHmatrix file. This never happend before.Comment

Anyway, use DVDSubEdit - Run OCR and then Save as SRT. You can then edit it with Notepad.

You should only use genuine Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media. Many thanks to www.pcx.com.au for their supply and great service.

paglamon the problem is it shouldn't be this way. I have a full CHmatrix file and it worled fine, but now I can't rip any subs from any DVD.

In Subrip, click Change Text Color.
Also, when opening the DVD, specify the IFO file.
But I agree with blu. Usually, it is much more easy to use DVDSubEdit.Comment

No luck with changing color.
I tried with DVDSubEdit, and there is only one problem. I'm from Central Europe and we have signs like č,š,ž, etc., and they don't show up with this program. Can I change anything in options?Comment

What do you mean by ..." I have the full CHmatrix file" ? The Character Matrix of one file may be different from another. So, you have to put the letters manually for the characters that are not recognised.sigpic

I donwloaded this matrix file, it's suppose to have almost all letters and signs. Worked fine before, don't know why it won't now.
I notice that when I open a ifo it says something like:"detected 2 closed captions". Could this mean something?Comment
