    Ripping And Playing Problem

Hi all first time on board so a newbi we all are at some time .

Ok my problem i tell you my set up first.

Pioneer DVR-105 firmware 1.30 i week old this unit

    Nero v 5.510.0

    Smartripper v 2.1.00

DVD disc datawrite i burn them at 1x

When i rip one of my films i select all files etc and then rip no problem i then burn to DVD the DVD will then not play in my dvd player on the tv but plays no problem on the pc drive.

Ok you say the discs no not that due to if i do a DVD direct copy with nero from a dvd ripped by a friend it runs on the tv unit and pc no problem.

Like i said all the files are selected and burned on to the dvd just that it wont play on TV unit. One thing on smart ripper it says all files are 3.962 but when ripped on disc show as 3.862 or something but all files are thier .

If you could help i will say thnks for doing so as it is driving me mad

Unless you and your friend have IDENTICAL standalone DVD players, the fact that it plays on his doesn't prove anything.

    1) Your standalone DVD player may not recognize burned DVDs

    2) Your standalone may not recognize the brand of blank DVDs

    3) Your standalone may playback only DVD-Rs or DVD+Rs

To find out the capabilities/limitations of your standalone, go to:

Out of interest does the DVD-R you just burned have both a VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder in the root ?

Some DVD players won't play DVD's that have the AUDIO_TS folder missing even though there is nothing in it.

To be honest I believe the real problem is with the media, try using some other brands as a check.

the media works fine in the player its justwhen i rip and burn the things they wont work in my or anyone ellses player just on pcs

If i get a back up of my m8 one he as ripped and i do a DVDcopy with nero it works ok on my pc and tv dvd no problems.

When i rip and then burn to the same discs they only work on the pc not the tv and yes m8 both files are on the disc,

I have looked at the master and the one i did and they are the same all files etc this is strange the discs it is going on are datawrite yellow top classic i have just put a order in for some
          DVR1012 Datawrite X4 speed DVD-R (10) see if they work better .

But like i said they dont work only when i have ripped the files my head in.

            "Nero v 5.510.0"

Sorry I overlooked this part of your post when I first responded.
Get the most recent update (I believe it's now up to 5.5.20). Problems of the type you describe were addressed starting with v.5.5.15...
