    Burning @4x SPEED DVD+R on 2.4x media

    Hi everyone,

Does anyone of you know who to write with 4x speed on a 2.4x DVD+R media?

My NEC-1100A and Nero only allow 2.4x with such medias.

    Thnx

    DVD+R 2.4X is HIGHLY underated.

    DVD-R 4X 16mins
    DVD+R 2.4X 22mins
    DVD-R 2X 30mins

It's only 8 more mins than 4X which I think is pretty good. One 100 pack of ritek 4X actually burnt at 4X. The other 100pack same media only burns at 2X.

I'm just about burning my hdd empty, so I have to burn several DVDs. It would be just nice to save some time without giving out 5.00 Euros for 4x DVD+R instead of 2.10 Euros for 2.4x DVD+R.

I just remembered the times I burned 2x CD-R medias with 4x speed. No lock and ran perfectly.

Is it generally necessary to lock speed or is this just a sell-strategy?

I believe you'll discover that your burner's firmware is designed to protect you from making "coasters" by attempting to burn DVDs at a higher than indicated rate...
